"Is Patrick going to school today?"
Pete's Mom shook her head. "Patrick won't be going to school for a little while, okay?"
"Can I not go to school for a little while?" Pete asked hopefully.
"No, Peter. You have no reason not to go to school."
"Neither does Patrick!"
"Yes, he does."
"Then what's his reason?"
Pete's Mom sighed. "It's complicated Peter. Patrick is just having some time off so he can settle in and adjust, okay?"
Pete poked his tongue out at her before walking into the lounge to watch some cartoons before he had to go to school.
Much to his disgust, Patrick was already there.
"That's my spot." Pete said coldly.
"O-Oh, I'm s-sorry..." Patrick stuttered, moving over to give Pete his spot back.
Pete examined his strange way of shuffling. "What's wrong with you?"
"H-Huh?"
"You walk funny and you move funny and you always look like you're going to cry!"
Patrick's eyes watered up.
"Oh come on! You're such a baby!"
Patrick burst into tears.
Pete's Mom came rushing in and ran to Patrick's aid.
Pete rolled his eyes.
"Peter!" She scolded. "You're grounded!"
"What!? I didn't even do anything!"
"You know what you did young man. Now, go to the car. Now. We'll discuss your punishment further when you get home."
Pete groaned and walked out to the car, anger influencing every step.
