The Wentz's family 'special day' was kinda suckish, Pete decided.
When they woke up, there was no christmas tree to go and look under, no christmas paper to tear off the presents. In fact, there was just four marked plastic bags, with 'Pete', 'Patrick', 'Andrew' and 'Hillary' written on them.
In Pete's bag he found a nerf gun, a monopoly set, some new picks for his bass guitar, and a couple of books. Andrew had mostly gotten dinosaur toys, and Hillary had gotten a new doll and some doll clothes.
Patrick got some new clothes. That was it. No toys, no games, just clothes. Pete thought it served him right. He hadn't been good this year, not at all. Just bad.
That was before Pete's Mom brought him outside where a new bike was sitting there, with a big red bow on the top. It was even nicer than Pete's bike, and Pete was seeing red.
"But why does he get the best gift?!"
"Peter!" Pete's Mom scolded. "Be quiet and stop being ungrateful!"
"Y-You c-can have it?" Patrick whispered, barely audible.
"No, no, this is yours Pattycakes." Pete's Mom assured. "Here, give it a go. Have you ever ridden a bike before?"
"I-I-I don't kn-know h-h-how to."
"That's okay, sit up here and I'll show you."
Patrick was struggling onto the bike seat. Pete scoffed. If anyone was being ungrateful, it was Patrick.
Pete's Mom held the bike stable while Patrick attempted to get the pedals right as he rode around their small backyard.
"I-Is this r-right?"
"Yes! That's it Patty!" She praised. "Good job!"
Pete found a stick and lodged it in between the spokes of the bike.
"PETER!" Pete's Mom yelled as Patrick fell onto the concrete.
Patrick started crying quietly.
Pete's Mom scooped him up and hugged him, before sending Pete to his room for a time out. Pete scowled and stormed off to his room. Patrick deserved it more than anything.
While he was sitting there, he tried to work out how to make Patrick feel bad next.
At lunchtime, he was allowed down to eat with the rest of the family. His Mom had made an amazing christmas feast, although they weren't allowed to call it that. Patrick sat between Pete's Mom and Dad, almost too scared to even look at Pete.
He was silent the entire meal. Once he'd eaten, he just stared at the plate.
"Good?" Pete's Mom smiled at him warmly.
He simply nodded.
"Christmas lunch was amazing Mom." Pete smiled cheesily.
Pete's Mom glared at him. Patrick just gripped onto her hand.
After lunch, Pete's Dad came and brought a few more presents for all the kids. These ones were wrapped, but only in brown paper.
Patrick just left his on the table as Pete and his siblings all ripped the presents open.
"Open it Pattycakes!" Pete's Mom encouraged, handing it back as she sat on the living room floor with him. Pete was busy driving his new remote control monster truck around the room, but glanced up to see what Santa had given Patrick.
It was a robot toy. The very one that Pete had written about in his letter to Santa.
Patrick just sort of stared at it. He wasn't even playing with it.
Pete swept down and scooped it up. "I think Santa made a mistake. This was meant to be mine. You can have the books he brought me, those were meant to be yours."
Patrick didn't even give it a second thought. He just let Pete take the toy.
"Peter!" Pete's Mom scolded. "That is PATRICK's! Give it back!"
"I asked for it!"
"That doesn't matter! Give it back!"
"It's mine!"
"NO IT'S NOT!"
"YES IT IS!"
Pete's Mom snatched it back. "Go to your room!"
Pete huffed and went to his room.
In fury, he pulled out the folder and began to read. He needed something big. Something that would absolutely destroy Patrick, just like the way that Patrick had destroyed Pete's Christmas.
Thanks to DarkHighness for her help with this chapter, it means so much.
Hope you're excited for the next chapter :).
