The next morning, Patrick went to go and see Dr Urie. Pete with with him to drop him off, as during the session Pete's Mom was planning to go to the store and pick up some groceries.
Patrick was sitting in the back seat, silently looking out the window while Pete's Mom drove towards Dr Urie's office. Pete was sitting across from him, quietly watching what he was doing with his hands.
"Hey Pat, your hands bleeding..." He murmured.
"Hmm?" Pete's Mom asked from the front seat.
"He's digging his nails into his palm and now his hand is bleeding Mom."
"Pattycakes..." She took a long deep breath. "Can you... stop doing that? Peter, grab him a tissue."
Pete grabbed a tissue from the box that they kept in the car and held it to Patrick's bleeding palm. "There, all better."
Patrick started crying again, and Pete just gently held the tissue on his hand until they got to Dr Urie's office. There, he bandaged Patrick's hand up so he couldn't make it bleed any longer.

He cried the entire time, and when Pete's Mom tried to leave, he screamed and clung to her.
"It's okay Pattycakes, I'll be back soon. You're gonna stay with Dr Urie for a little bit to talk about last night, okay?"
"D-Don't g-go!" He cried, burying his face in her stomach.
She sighed softly and sat down in Dr Urie's office. Pete followed, because he wasn't sure what else to do. He'd never seen Patrick like this before. Patrick wouldn't leave her side.
Dr Urie slowly asked him questions, and eventually he settled down enough so that Pete's Mom and Pete could leave the room. They got to the front door, before they heard Patrick's screams again.
Pete turned around to go back in, but Pete's Mom took a long, deep breath before continuing out to the car. Confused, Pete followed her.
"But he's sad! Shouldn't we help him when he's sad?"
"Dr Urie's there, he's going to help him. We need to do the groceries, Pete."
Pete frowned. "Why is Patrick sad so much?"
"Because... he is Pete. Because lots of bad things happened to him."
"But... shouldn't he be happy that they're no longer happening?"
His mother just took a long deep breath. "Sometimes the past can haunt the present, and it's really hard to get rid of those ghosts."
