Noelle was as clumsy a person could get. She doesn't know how she manages to be that clumsy, but she just always ends up hurting her unintentionally sometimes.
She was still sitting in the arena ten minutes after the final buzzer had gone off for the Cavaliers' opening night game against the Knicks. It was fun at first, but then the second half happened and it became boring to watch.
She still had fun, though.
She finally got up and made her way down the steps. She craned her neck and looked over the crowd for the power forward she's been supporting since he got drafted - Kevin Love.
Too consumed in finding the 6"10 man, she didn't notice that there were a few more steps before she hit the ground.
She fell face forward into the ground with a loud thud. Instead of getting up, however, Noelle just stayed on the ground and groaned audibly. Who wears heels to a basketball game, anyway?
When she heard footsteps approach her, she pushed herself up the ground and dusted off her shirt. She cursed to herself silently and ignored the presence next to her. "Are you okay? That was a really hard fall."
She froze at the familiarity of his voice. She halted her actions and slowly lifted her head only to meet the prettiest blue eyes she's ever seen. Her throat immediately when dry but she still found it in her to somehow get a reply out, "I think I'm okay."
He stepped back and scanned her from her head to toe, probably looking for possible injuries - he could also be checking her out - but either way, it was something and Noelle could scream to her death right now. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah," she grinned genuinely. "It's okay, I fall all the time."
"We better make sure it's nothing serious just in case," Kevin laughed, making her knees buckle and palms sweat. Who knew that watching a basketball game all by herself would lead to this? "I'm Kevin, by the way. But it seems like you already knew that."
She looked down at the familiar jersey she was wearing - the exact duplicate of the one he was wearing with his name and number. "I'm Noelle."
They stayed silent for a while, neither of them really knowing what to do or say next. Does she leave? Does he bring her to their nurse to make sure she didn't hurt herself too badly?
Kevin rocked back and forth on his heels and fiddled with the corner of his towel. "Well, I think we should switch jerseys!"
Noelle was dumbfounded. Did Kevin Love just ask her to give him her jersey that she bought in a random store in exchange for the official one that he was wearing? She lifted her head and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Well I already got your name," Kevin stated matter-of-factly. He laughed and shot her a look. "I gotta get your number too."
"Oh." It took a moment, but it finally dawned Noelle. She felt her cheeks heat up, beads of sweat formed on her forehead and her mouth went dry. "Oh, you just hit on me!"
"Thanks for noticing," Kevin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck. Noelle stayed silent for a while more and it made him nervous. "Is your silence your way of rejecting me? Because it's fine, it was a leap of faith, anyway. You're totally out of my leag-"
"Sure!" She breathed out a laugh and dug into her purse for her phone. "As long as you promise to text me right away." She didn't know where this new wave of confidence came from, but she was liking it.
They took each other's phone into their own hands and Kevin grinned, "I don't leave a pretty girl hanging. I promise I'll text you."
LOOOOL OKAY SO I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE ONE I POSTED EARLIER TODAY BECAUSE I WAS HALF ASLEEP BUT I REWROTE IT AND I HOPE YOU STILL LIKE IT ♥
