Chapter 28

Assassins

Christar sat at his desk writing in journal when his assistant came in and notified him that James-Earl was waiting to see him.

"Show him in." Christar said calmly.

James-Earl Manson walked in He was a beefy black man with broad shoulders and a narrow waist some would think him a brawler and not a man of the arcane arts. He wore black robes that were gathered at the middle by a crimson belt with a golden buckle. As he liked to show off his wealth.

He has a full head of ebony curled hair and two medium crimson platinum ear rings in each ear. He had a hard chiseled face as though it were made of stone. His face always had a smirk on it like he was above everyone else and he thought it as well.

Each of his fingers had a ring upon it one tenson on each hand, one mythril on each hand, one platinum one each hand, one gold one each hand, and one electrum on each hand.

"Hello Christar." He said in a slow condescending tone. "I've come to take you up on that offer you've been circulation around the city for someone to kidnap Stephanous."

"Why does a mage of you standing want to bother with such a menial task?" Christa asked suspiciously.

"Because the joker you sent last time wasn't qualified for the task." James-Earl replied as he sat across from Christar. "Let's just say that Brady was too cocky for his own good. It's rather embarrassing to have your head slice off by a first grade Dou-Jin."

"With my magic's and cleverness I can get to the boy and have him out of the castle in less than a day."

"You really think you have what it takes to capture him and bring him back alive?" Christar said skeptically. "Fine try to take him. I hope you have your head when all is said and done."

The group was outside helping Stephanous with his advanced Dou-Jin training, another words they were ganging up on him, but none of them could seem to touch him. Just when they thought he would slip up he would come up with a surprise block. Stephanous was sweating profusely as were the other first year Dou-Jins. They had been at it for over and hour after dinner and the sunlight was fading and the only light they could see was the light of Stephanous Spiritblade, which he wasn't supposed to be using without Michale being around.

The group got ready and left and headed in to take baths and study but Stephanous wanted to stay outside and work some more.

Stephanous stayed behind and Lorianna with him. He and Lorianna practiced doing offensive sword forms swooping crane, to dancing monkey, to charging unicorn, to raging horse, and to swift river.

Then they switch to defensive forms stone elephant, to guarding rhino, to stone wall, to great starwood, and tumbling boulder.

Then they sparred with one another. Stephanous really work Lorianna hard. He wanted her to be the best Dou-Jin in the group. She was going to have to be if she wanted to become a guardian.

Then there was a blinding flash and James-Earl was there.

"Stephanous I have come to collect you." He said in a menacing voice.

Stephanous turned to him and to Lorianna to leave and get Leonardo.

"I'm not going anywhere with you." Stephanous growled. "I'm tired of people trying to push me around and thinking they can take me away and make me their puppet. If you want me you'll have to fight me."

James-Earl waved his want and said "somnum." But nothing happened. Stephanous walked closer to the mages.

"somnum." He said again. Still nothing.
