Chapter 31
Assassination on Christar
Christar was outside which was odd for him, but he was in the shadow elf city of Talcoma'De'Shore. Lost in his thoughts. His thoughts being who was going to kill him now that he was out of his office. However he had the new Roda-Ki personal bodyguard. So he felt no better than he did before. The Roda-Ki were as likely to stab him in the back as a vagrant in the gutters.
Christar's first stop was going to be the King Naishner Do'Goffen. He abhorred the king. The king was a fat slothful shadow elf that gave his race a bad name.
Christar walked up the stair to the palace of the king. It were a long exhausting climb even for a young man let alone Christar who was in his hundreds, even if he did have the stamina of a fifty year old man.
Christar waited at the entrance door waiting to be seen by the king. King Naishner Do'Goffen loved to make everyone wait, because he was king. It made him feel powerful.
The king was a severely obese elf that he appeared to be more of a slug on the throne than a king. He had a massive flat nos that he could be heard breathing from nearly fifty feet away so servants always knew he was coming so they knew to look busy when he passed by.
The king had thick fat lips that when he spoke it came out in a mumble and made him hard to understand. Sometimes he needed and interpreter to repeat his orders or commands for the kingdom.
He had lengthy ears that pointed three inches out of his well combed greasy hair. The king thought it was prestige's that the king have long ears, it was a sign of leadership and charisma, but the king was the only one who thought that. Everyone else knew he was king because his father had died and he happened to be next in line. The kingdom was paying for that bit of nepotism.
The kings eyes were nothing more than slits through layers of fat. It was as if he were always squinting to see anything. What you could see off the king's eyes was that they were dull black opals.
Nobody in the kingdom could find anything likable about the king. He was abrasive, dishonest, lustful, and those were his good qualities.
The king allowed Christar into the Chamber. Christar, much to his disgust, bowed before the king.
"You may rise." The king said in an uncaring manner. He could have left Christar there all day to fall flat on his face asleep, but he was feeling gracious and let him up.
The king gazed down at Christar. "Are your mages ready for the assault up the city of Vorderchen'Strauss?"
"Yes you majesty." Christar answered an humbly as he could for the fat slob that sat like a slug before him. "The mages are ready to do their part in the battle that is to come."
"That is good to hear you are one of the few off races that can actually kick arse and take names. I like that about you. You're always a man that does what he says. You have never let me down once."
"What do you think of the Roda-Ki it you don't mind me asking?" Christar asked.
"Commander Zartan Zorcon is an arrogant fool." The king said, but that's what the king had been informing everyone about Christar as well. The king disliked everyone because he thought everyone was after his crown.
Christar asked about the mage school, priest school, thieves guild, and assassins guild. The king gave the same answer for each school as he did for Commander Zartan, with the exception of the mage school, which Christar was the Grand Master of at the time.
