Chapter 4

Guilds and New Friends

The temple was an entire town itself it was so immense and there was a massive metropolis that surrounded the outside of the temple. As the group approached the main entrance Stephanous saw the enormous granite stones that made up the outer wall of the temple. As much as the temple was made for worship it was much more made for war.

The main gate of granite slid out on what looked to be six inch wheels that sank into one foot deep holes when the gate was shut. The wheels appeared to be about six inches apart. The wall was nearly one hundred feet tall. There were twelve turrets and eight towers the towers being closer to the center of the temple.

Along the curtain wall hundreds of arrow slits could be seen. As the group walked through the gate Stephanous could see that ten horses could walk abreast and still have plenty of room on the wall without any danger of falling off.

J.D., the dwarf, took Brady off in another direction than where Michale was taking Stephanous. The young boy was taken to the center of the temple when he dismounted and was led inside the structure that had the twelve tall towers. The building on the outside was perfectly symmetrical being made out of perfectly crafted stone. There were sixteen tower groups in eight groups of two.

The duo walked through the double starwood doors. Starwood being a dense wood that's as strong a high grade steel and the trees needed to be cut down with magical equipment. The densest population of starwood was located in Talos the Royal Elf Kingdom and the only way they would cut down a tree is if were dead, diseased, or dying and they were the only ones that had the equipment. They would be hired out to go to other countries to cut down their dead starwood trees. The wood of the starwood was a pale sky blue and could be bleached to be pure white.

It was said that it took nearly two years to cut down one of these massive trees. These trees stood over two thousand feet tall and were as wide as 300 feet. The royal elves lived inside the trees the life ran through the bark and as long as the openings were small it had extremely minute effect on the trees.

Stephanous was taken through the halls of the temple until he came to a chamber that had a large door with a huge ring on it. Michale knocked on the door. A tiny voice said come in and The Dou-Jin opened the door and the duo walked in.

Stephanous gazed around the room with awe. The room was much larger on the inside than the outside would have indicated. In fact the room was nearly three hundred feet by three hundred feet. The chamber looked more like a museum than an office. Several giant skeletons were placed about the room.

One skeleton was of a massive creature that was twelve feet in height and nearly as wide. It had long tusks that protruded four nearly six feet to either side of its nasal cavity. It had thick bones for legs as if it had to carry an extreme amount of weight. If it had been normal size Stephanous would have thought it to be a warthog of immense size.

Another skeleton stood fifteen feet tall and was human in every detail except that it was so tall. It had a massive huge gorilla-like head, but the rest of it was human in form and structure. It held as a small tree as a club and there were animal skins draped over the skeleton to make it appear more real and menacing.

The last skeleton hung from the ceiling. It was ninety feet long and had a ninety feet wingspan. Stephanous had never seen anything so incredible in all his life. He stared at it for a few minutes and thought it must be what people said dragons looked like while in flight.

"Welcome." Came a small cheerful voice. "So you must be Stephanous, the one I've heard so much about."

Stephanous had to stop gawking at all the wonderful stuff in the room to gaze at a three foot tall man with a tall pointed hat. He had a long stark white beard and mustache that reached the floor. His face was full of wrinkles like that of a raisin. He had a large nose, big pointed ears, and large cow brown eyes that seemed to take in everything.
