Chapter 33

Goblin Training

Two days later saw them facing another interesting cave. Michale checked it out and decided that the pod should train on this particular cave. They had had practice against kobolds and goblins in school and had fought the kobolds in real life so Michale wanted them to learn what it was like to be on their own.

Stephanous who had been appointed pod leader set up Isaian and Brayothan to lead the group in to look for traps of any kind. Whether they would be physical or magical traps. They had some of the skills to check for the most basic of traps and minor magical traps and Michale thought they could handle this place with minimal trouble.

Stephanous and Lorianna would take up the next position in as the two boys got into a physical confrontation they couldn't handle. Lorianna could provide minor healing spells to help the warriors of the group and at the back of the group were Deedra and Terkesha they would be the rear guard in case someone tried to attack them from behind.

Excitement filled the air for the students, they couldn't wait to get started.

"I must warn you." Michale stated before they went into the cave. "These are not friendly school goblins. They will want to kill you and hurt you. So be on your guard and work as a team. Now be on your way."

Isaian and Brayothan took the lead position using their inexperienced abilities in checking for traps and secret passages but they found none and the party followed close behind in case the duo found themselves in trouble.

Again the passage was roughly hewn like the corridors of the kobolds only a little better worked. The party hadn't gone very far when the passage went into three directions. One passage went straight ahead, one went to the right and up and one went left and down.

The party took the path that went up trying to make their way as quietly as possible, so that they didn't attract any undue attention. Brayothan held the party up because he saw six dull orangish colored creatures wearing raggedy leather armor. They had dirty skin and flat faces and almond shaped eyes. Their fingernails were thick and rough and they were all barefoot with long curling toenails.

Each had a short sword at their waste and they seemed to be bullying each other for dominance. One goblin was bigger than the others and he was constantly punching the others in the face or about the head and shoulders. For a goblin he was tall. He was almost five feet tall and rather muscular in a bulky fat way. When he opened his mouth to speak jagged teeth showed of what teeth he had, which wasn't many.

All the goblins were quite disgusting in their manners, they belched, farted, picked their noses and ate their boogers, they picked their butts and stuck their fingers under each other's noses, and they urinated in one of the corners of the cave chamber.

Brayothan reported back to the group while Isaian kept an eye on the goblins. The girls in the group made faces of disgust while Stephanous formed a plan.

"We hit them with our arrows." He stated. "Six of them and six of us."

The group readied their bows and arrows and snuck up to the opening. The goblins were too busy tormenting each other to pay any attention to the group. The arrows flew true. Each arrow punctured the head or chest of a goblin and they dropped to the floor without so much as a call for help.

The group scurried into the chamber and Isaian took the watch for intruders. The bodies were search with repugnance. They came up with fourteen bronze pieces among the entire group. The girls glanced around to see if they could wipe their hands on anything, but all they found was worse rags than what the goblins were wearing.
