Chapter 41
Denfir
The city of Denfir wasn't as large as Salt City, but it was large enough for the group to explore. Michale asked the guard where a Dou-Jin inn was and the guard gave them direction to the King's Sanction.
The group made their way to the inn and found a sign that had been freshly painted of a bowing before the king and the king touching his head with a scepter. The group walked in under the leadership of Michale and greeted the innkeeper.
The innkeeper was a rotund balding man with a crown of gray hair and a gracious smile upon his face.
"How do you do?" The innkeeper said. "I'm Jerome Jackson owner of this fine establishment. How may I serve you today?"
"We'll need couple rooms your largest and one private." Michale said.
"I have two rooms that can hold three people each and a single room." The innkeeper said. "One room for the girls and one room for the boys and a room for yourself."
"Sounds perfect." Michale answered back.
Michale paid the innkeeper for the rooms and the group was led up to the rooms and the put their stuff away and met in one of the private dining area.
"We need to stay focused." Michale told the Shau'Doku. "We don't know exactly where the orb is but it somewhere close. Hopefully we haven't overrun the thing."
"What if the shadow elves back where Vlolzz lives has it." Stephanous said. "I have this feeling that it's back there and we missed it."
"It's probably just nerves." Michale said dismissing Stephanous's strange sensation. "The most probable place is the League of Mages that dwelled within these mountains or at least they did a year ago. They were said to be twenty miles north of Denfir. That's the way we head tomorrow."
There was a knock at the door. Michale answered the door and found the innkeeper standing there with a tiny scroll in his hands.
"This came for you the other day." The innkeeper informed Michale.
"Thank you." Michale said and gave the innkeeper a copper for his trouble.
Michale unrolled the tiny note and read the Dou-Jin code that said.
Michale
Orb of Solomon with the shadow elves in Bremmington. Please return to
Vorderchen'Strauss and prepare to get the orb back.
Dou-Jin High Command
"Well Stephanous it looks like you were right. The orb is with the shadow elves." Michale informed the group. "Looks like we're going to back track back to Bremmington to get the Orb."
"For now let's get something to eat and get some rest and we'll head back tomorrow." Michale informed them.
"I hope the albinos can help us figure out a way to get the orb back." Isaian said not sure how they were going to sneak into the shadow elf city.
"I'm sure they have spies in the city that can help us get to the orb." Michale said trying to instill confidence in his team. "I just hate that we came all this way for nothing. Let's have lunch and then you can go and see the city. Denfir has a carnival this time of year. It's called The Festival of Lights."
The pod arrived at the entrance to the carnival. Michal had given each of them a silver piece to spend at the carnival. The painted colorful sign said Festival of Lights at the entrance. There were little globes of light on everything. They outlined every building and structure.
