Chapter 25
Something about Carrio
Carrio wasn't a tall man in fact he was a little bit shorter than average height. He stood overseeing the gathering of his undead troops. That's what he was best at his left eye covered with a patch that was actually a gem of true seeing while he had stone cold icy cobalt blue eyes. He had shoulder length blonde hair that he kept back in a ponytail tied by a worn leather cord.
Carrio Deathgrip's undead army consisted of five hundred skeletons, five hundred zombies, fifty ghasts, fifty ghouls, twenty ghosts, ten banshees, two liches, one arch lich, one dread knight, one overlord, ten mummies, ten specters, five vampires, ten wights, and ten wraiths.
Carrio was one of Christar's go to guys. One of the few people that Christar half-way trusted. He was the back up for Christar whenever Christar had to leave on business and that wasn't very often.
The mage was quite young though he was only twenty-seven years old yet he was as smart as Christar if not as powerful. Christar had spent many years gaining power, but Carrio was less powerful than Christar but not by much, which is why Christar treated him as a friend.
Christar treated Carrio almost like a son. Well as close to a son as Christar would get. Carrio had never let Christar down. Christar was proud of the small army that Carrio had managed to get under his control. Carrio happened to manufacture bracelets of undead control and each undead wore one.
The undead army was as well trained as any people army could have been The Dread Knight and the Overlord were both extremely powerful and kept the troops in tip top shape. Nothing went on in the troop without the duo knowing about it. The undead troop were almost like people troops. The undead had personalities just like people. Carrio thought it was because of the bracers.
They would argue and fight with each other. They even formed their own cliques. Each undead society clinging to the own kind when left on their own. The fought as a unit when called to do so though.
Carrio replenished his troop with fallen people after a battle before the enemy could gather their dead. He had a powerful mass zombie spell that he used. Some of the zombies didn't even know that they were zombies until a few days had past by and they began to decay.
Carrio made zombies out o the people he fought, the zombies then rotted into skeleton , ghouls, or ghasts and still other transformed into higher functioning undead like liches, wraith, and wights.
He had a way of sorting them out into what they were going to become and they would establish their cliques. Powerful mages and priests turned into liches, mighty warriors turned into Dread knight, great paladins could be turned in overlords, and so on the cycle went. Every dead person had a place in the undead ranks. Most were zombies and skeletons though.
Carrio worked in his lab developing new and unusual potions that he could give to people that would make them do his bidding for life. Unfortunately for him he could only make the effect last about an hour. Delivering the potion was the hardest part. The potion was black in color and was easily seen in a glass. A mug of ale was easier if the person was a little drunk because they didn't look into the stein and say "Hey what's the black stuff in my drink?" That and Carrio didn't have the pull Christar did to get invited to the rich citizens parties.
Carrio was plain looking and had the personality of a shoe. All he cared about were his spells, undead, and magic all the same level. He would do anything to advance anyone of the three, and that meant anything. If he had to murder a person so be it, if it meant a human sacrifice it would be done, nothing was too much for Carrio.
