CHAPTER 19: WINGS

The pain Needa felt was beyond anything she could imagine.

She stood up and touched her wing.

Gone.

She cried. “This is your fault, Lexi.”

All Needa ever wanted was Griffin’s attention all to herself. They were meant to be.

“Our wings were made of the same feathers,” she thought. “He’s mine.”

Needa clenched her fist and horns came out of her knuckles. She wanted revenge. She was going to do everything in her flames to melt Lexi down.

She popped her shoulders and blew ashes on her missing wing.

She sang a lullaby and kissed her palm.

Ashes formed on the outline of her lips, and she blew it to her wing too.

New black wings then grew on her missing wing.

She opened her new wings and stretched it.

“Ahhh,” she thought to herself. “What a relief.”

She heard wings flapping from above.

She looked up.

Those wings.

She can recognize them anywhere.

“Griffin!” Needa yelled.

Griffin didn’t seem to hear her.

Needa stretched her arms and cracked her knuckles.

“Game on,” she thought.

She kicked the sand off of her feet as she began to pick up speed.

“Griffin!” she yelled.

She was about 5 feet from the ground when suddenly she can’t feel her wings.

“Ugh. My wing.” She thought.

She flapped her wings harder and harder.

There was no use. Her new wings weren’t working properly.

She started to fall from the air. Needa’s tears turned to flame.

Her tears burned her cheeks leaving marks on her face.

“This will be the last time I’m going to cry over you,” she muttered.

She closed her eyes as her wings picked up heat from the Underworld.

She sniffed.

“Revenge,” she whispered. “On you and your precious angel.”

She felt her back touch the ground.

She let out a heavy breath.

“You’re mine. Only mine.”
