Adonis POV

“So you are telling us the barrier that has been guarding this town for generation is weakening?” Dad, alpha Cielo, repeated.

Osiris frowned, “yes the barrier is weakening but I have no idea why.”

“But that’s impossible. That barrier is very strong. In fact, it gets strengthened every three months.” Beta Raj gazed at Osiris skeptically. It was fast, and I almost didn’t notice; a dark expression appeared on Osiris’ face but disappeared just as quickly. I knew what it was, irritation. He didn’t say anything, only nodded and looked away.

I stood up next to my mate who face had morph into its blank mask again. “Come on dad, just hear him out okay?”

“Stop Adonis; it does not matter if they don’t believe me. I should go.” He turned his back and started to walk away from us. We were all gathered in my father’s office. When we came home, Osiris told them what he knew but they were skeptical and refused to believe him.

“Wait Osiris,” Pa called after him.

He stood at the door and turned around to face them. “No, I think I should go. You are all thinking I made this up to make up for my two weeks absent. Believe what you will, but soon, something will enter this town and there’s nothing any of you can do to stop it unless the barrier is fix.”

Was he right? I gazed at my fathers in disbelief. They really thought that!

“You’re serious aren’t you? Look I’m sorry, it’s just I’ve had to watch my son go through hell for two weeks and all of a sudden you came and throw this bomb on us. So you think something is coming? May I asked what is it?” Father asked.

Osiris stared at him for a long time, probably making sure he was serious. “I am sorry; I didn’t mean to stay away for two weeks. I don’t know what this thing is. I can’t figure out if the barrier is weakening to let it in, or if this incoming being is weakening the barrier on its own.”

The alphas and betas stared at each other, and looked back at Osiris finally realizing that he was not kidding.

“Is there a difference on what’s weakening the barrier?” I asked Osiris.

“Yes. If the barrier is weakening on its own to let this being in, then there is no way of stopping it.” Father answered before Osiris could. The six of them hovered in a corner whispering and discussing whatever leaders discussed. I walked to Osiris and put my arms around him, caressing his cheek.

“I am sorry for going away for so long,” he leaned into my hand and stared up at me.

“Tell me where you went.” I ran my hands through his hair and down his neck.

“I was looking into the barrier.” He ran his hands down my chest and abs, smirking when I shivered.

“Tis, tis, your highness-” I bent down to his lips. “You are playing with fire. What else did you do for two weeks?”

“Nothing, just the barrier that’s all.” He mumbled and smiled oddly at me. I hugged him and frowned; his smile was fake. No, it’s impossible. Did he lie to me? A chuckle left my lips; I was being silly, Osiris does not lie. Still something inside told me I was not being silly.
