Adonis POV

Adonis, wake up.” His soft and husky voice penetrated my sleep, pulling me away from the sweet dream I was having about me and Osiris in a hot tub. Still unaware of my surrounding, I twisted my neck towards my alarm clock and furrowed my brows when the time read 12:55am. I studied the clock and then turned my head to look for Osiris when I realized how early it was. Did something happen to him? Why would he wake me up this early? He was tired, and I was exhausted so he should be sleeping.

My eyes squinted when I saw that he was lying further away from me, in fact, he was closer to the edge of the bed and if not careful could fall. He was on his stomach, biting his right thumb as his eyes watched me with a shy look in their depths. The moonlight coming through the window allowed me to see the blue silk pajamas suit he was wearing. His outfit had me suspicious because I remembered that he had on a red pajama pants and was shirtless.

“Are you sleeping?” He whispered timidly.

“Not anymore?” My mind was stuck in a haze of confusion and sleep.

“Tell me you love me,” his words were desperate. His shyness and attitude had me guarded. Osiris would only behave this way if he knew he was in trouble.

Deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt, I played along. “I love you,” I smiled, wanting him to see that I meant every word. He returned my smiled happily, but his coy and reserved demeanor was still there. “Why are you all the way at the edge of the bed?” I chuckled. “You could fall.” This time he looked nervous. Why was he behaving this way?

“Do not worry, go back to sleep,” he assured me, putting more distance between us.

Okay…something was wrong with him. “Did you wake me just so I can tell you I love you?” The thought sounded sweet, but I could not deny that he interrupted my sleep for something he already knew. I would tell him I love him a thousand times if he wants to hear it. Osiris knew this, knew how I felt, so something else was going on.

“Say it again,” this time he buried his face in the pillow, making his words come out muffled.

“I love you,” I fulfilled his request. “Now come closer,” I stretched my hand out to him.

“Stay back!” He panicked, pushing away from me, but he was already at the edge of the bed and with no room, he was hugging the ground within a second. I chuckled and peered over the bed and at my mate on the floor.

“What are you doing Osiris?” I asked, laughing when he lied on the ground, not bothering to get up.

“Go back to sleep,” he mumbled and turned his head away from me.

Yeah, that was not happening. He dug his grave by waking me up, so there was no escaping the consequences of his actions.

“Not that this isn't entertaining, but come back, I want to hold you,” I grinned, holding my hand out to help him up.

“The ground is not so bad,” he muttered.

Rolling my eyes, I reached down and grabbed his right arm, instantly pulling him up effortlessly. A hiss left my lips when I was met with his burning hot skin. When he was finally up the bed, I realized that his skin was warm, and his forehead was damp with sweat. I went into panic mode, afraid that his symptoms had returned again. Turning him on his back, I pulled his pajamas shirt away from his neck and ran an indulgent touch against his smooth skin.
