Epilogue

Here is it: The end of volume one. Enjoy.

Adonis POV

You know that feeling when you are sinking into a bottomless pit and everything around seemed hopelessly further and further away? It is the feeling when the ground cave and nothing is left to hold onto.  Right now that’s what I was feeling, like all the demons from hell finally found me. There was nothing more gut-wrenching than watching Osiris vomiting blood. There was no end to it; the red thick liquid which was supposed to be his life force kept pouring out of him like someone open a dam. All I could do was watched; I was having an out of body experience where I saw him forcing his life force out but I couldn't make a move.

“What is this?” the words leaked out of me.  I’m not sure who the question was meant for. It wasn't directed at Osiris specifically, more like the question was directed at the world. I was asking the world what was the meaning of my mate vomiting blood. Maybe he recognized that it was a rhetorical question or it could be he was too occupied with regurgitating his lifeblood but my mate didn't answer. All I could do was watched feeling like someone ripped out my heart.

Still stuck in my haze of madness, I watched my mate finished vomiting and crawled away from the red liquid that was slowly staining the forest floor. He lied down on the ground, out cold. Holding my right hand into fist, I punched the ground doing more damage to it than me. The vibration from the punch traveled up my fingers, to my hand and forearm finally reaching my body. It snapped me awaked and I was able to close my eyes and locked in all the craziness that was threatening to take over my being.

With my mind cleared, I rushed to Osiris and picked up his weakened body. He was cold to the touch and his skin was paled under the moonlight. My mate’s body secured in my arm, I picked up speed running with only one thought in my mind, getting to everyone else so our alphas doctors could take a look at my demigod.

I was so angry with myself. I should have dealt with his health problem before the battle but I wanted all the confusion and chaos to finish first. I also should have confronted Osiris about the constant smell of blood in our bathroom. God, was that the smell of the blood he vomited? Does that mean this wasn't the first time something like this happened?

Clenching my teeth in rage and disappointment mostly of myself, I finally exited through the forest and reached where everyone was gathered talking about the terrifying light and the outcome of the battle. My fathers were asking one of the fighters, Jacob about the casualty.

“Read the report Jacob,” I heard dad, alpha Cielo commanded the man.

“Alright, casualty on our side: we have one hundred pack members severely wounded but they are healing and within a few days they will go back to normal. On that note, there are three hundred and fifty of our people with minor wounds but they will be okay by tomorrow. So far, death on our side amounts to Zero. Survival on the enemy side is also zero although there is no body to recover so we cannot be sure. But my final analysis says we won this war by a wide margin, alphas.

My fathers smiled and looked up to announced it to the pack but stopped when they saw the distraught look on my face as I race to them.

“Adonis, what is it?” They were instantly by my side.

“I-he-blood, fainted!” My words were not coherent because I didn't know how to articulate what I experienced and saw with my own eyes.

“Calm down son and explain it slowly,” Pa, alpha Solis, put his hands on my shoulders while I gaze down at Osiris in my arms.

Shaking my head, my voice choked and all I could manage was “doctor!” At the background I could hear the pack members whispering and talking over each other but I wasn't listening to them.
