"My baby Lia finally has a boyfriend!" Hope chirped when she approached us. Yes, Jaden and I are official! I said yes to his question, of course. Ever since we liked each other, I've always waited for him to ask me to be his girlfriend and yesterday, it happened. Nothing can ruin the happiness I'm feeling right now.

"Sucks to be us right now," Tori said, looking at Hope and Khaila.

"Remind me why we're single again while these three are having the best time of their lives," Khaila said, glaring at Bianca, Stella, and me. We just laughed it off.

We didn't get the chance to talk much because the bell rang, and we had to go to our first class for the day. My first class is Literature and I hate it because it's one of the three classes where I have to deal with Gabriel's annoying a*s.

When I entered the room, Gabriel was busy texting or whatever he is doing with his phone. I didn't mind him and just walked to the empty seat beside my classmate, Alice.

She was reading a novel, so I did not bother her. She glanced at me when I sat down. She smiled at me and I did the same before she continued her readings. Our teacher entered shortly after, so everyone settled on their seats.

She started discussing about William Shakespeare and his works. I listened attentively and sometimes, raised my hand to answer some of her questions. I know Shakespeare by heart, so it was not that hard to understand what she was teaching.

"Sadly, kids like you tend to ignore these classics and focus on books and TV shows that are made in this generation which is why your project is to choose one of Shakespeare's works, twist it into something your generation would love, and make a 50-page script for a play," our teacher explained. "It's a partner project and I have the list right here," she said, raising her clipboard. She started stating names. I didn't pay much attention because I'm always last to be called due to my surname. "And lastly, Lianna Tyler, your partner is Gabriel Winters."

F*ck! Why him out of all people?!

"For the remaining time of the period, you can sit next to your partner to discuss on how you will work on this project," our teacher announced before sitting on her chair and working on her laptop.

"Alice, don't leave," I said, grabbing Alice's arm when I saw her standing up.

"Sorry, Lianna, but my partner and I need to plan," she said. I just nodded as a response. I watched her walk towards her partner, ignoring Gabriel who sat on Alice's seat beside me.

"We doing this sh*t or what?" he asked, and I had no other choice but to face him.

"I suddenly lost my mood," I answered.

"What will we do then?"

I sighed. "Meet me after school in the ice cream parlor across the street."

"I don't want to."

"But you have to, and I don't want to argue with you right now. Being partnered with you ruined my day," I said and as if the universe heard me, the bell rang. "After school," I reminded him before standing and walking to my next class.

"Ms. Tyler!" someone called from behind. I faced the person who called me, and I saw my math teacher walking towards me. "Can I speak to you?" she asked, and I nodded as a response. I followed her inside her classroom, and I sat on the empty seat across her.
