"Here's to the nights that turned into mornings with the friends turned into family." ~Unknown

"Hi, Lia," Hope chirped when she saw me fixing my locker.

"Good morning, baby girl," I greeted back, looking at her and smiling a bit before returning my gaze to my open locker.

"Sleepover at Bianca's house later. Don't forget," she said.

"How could I forget when I've been excited all week," I answered.

"Oh, my God! Same!" she exclaimed, making me laugh.

She watched me fix my locker after that and when I have finished, I closed it and faced her.

"Walk to class together?" I asked and she nodded.

She was telling me a lot of stories while we were walking. Some I've heard and some I haven't yet. Then I suddenly remembered something.

"Hey, Hope. Your birthday is coming up. Any plans?" I asked and that had her taken aback.

She looked at me and smiled softly. "I don't want to celebrate it." She shrugged.

"Why not?" I asked.

"You know what happened before."

"But it's different this time." I tried convincing her.

"I really don't want to."

"But you're turning 18."

"Thanks for your concern, Lia, but I'm fine," she said before walking past me.

I sighed. What happened last year really traumatized Hope. Even though she had one of the biggest parties ever, a wrong happening turned her whole party upside down.

"Have y'all seen Hope and Tori?" I asked Khaila and Bianca while placing my tray down. Stella placed hers down beside me.

"We were going to ask you the same thing," Bianca answered.

I groaned. "I think she's avoiding me."

"Why?" Stella asked.

"I reminded her of her birthday," I answered.

"Oh, sh*t! I did too," Khaila said.

"I don't know if the both of you are smart or really, really dumb for doing that." Bianca shook her head.

"Well, we can't really ignore Hope's birthday so I kinda understand why they did that," Stella said. "Let's just hope that she'll be okay for the sleepover later," she added and all of us nodded.

"Why don't we just throw her a surprise party for her birthday? What do y'all think?" Khaila asked.

"That's actually a good idea," I said.

"But first we have to talk to Mrs. Taylor about it," Stella said.

"Don't worry. I'm on it," Bianca said.

We just continued eating our lunch after that because we had classes to attend to. We would chat sometimes, but our attention is mainly focused on our trays of food.

"I'll be home tomorrow, Mom," I told my mom who was sitting on the couch.

She looked at me and the bag I'll be bringing. "You got everything you need?" she asked.

"I made a checklist so yes," I answered.

She smiled. "Have fun," she said.

"I will," I answered before opening the front door and walking out of the house.

Stella's car is already parked in front of the house. I walked over to her car and opened the door on the backseat to drop my bag.

"Really, Stella?" I said when I saw a medium-sized suitcase resting on the backseat.

"Don't judge me, Lia," she said, and I laughed before placing my gym bag on top of her suitcase.

I then sat on the front seat and watched Stella drive so effortlessly.

When we have arrived in Bianca's house, Stella parked her car inside Bianca's huge garage. We got out of the car and I helped her with her suitcase while we walked to the entrance of Bianca's house.

"My babies are here!" Bianca announced when she opened the door for us. She then hugged the both of us like we haven't been together at school a while ago.

"You're a little too extra, girl," I told Bianca when we got out of her embrace.

"I know," she said, grabbing Stella's suitcase.

"I'm braiding your hair next," Khaila told Stella when we sat on the couch. She is currently busy with braiding Hope's hair.

"Alright," Stella answered.

"What are we going to watch?" I asked, looking at the TV and grabbing the popcorn bowl from the coffee table.

"The Fault in Our Stars," Bianca answered, sitting beside me.

"Oh, God! I'm not ready to cry my f*cking eyes out," Tori said.

"Too bad. I'm the host so I get to choose," Bianca countered before playing the movie.

When Hazel already spoke, all of us became quiet and just focused on the film.

"Why don't we do something fun?" Bianca asked, wriggling her eyebrows. She just got out of the kitchen.

We just finished the movie and all of us are crying right now. Well, except for Bianca who just stretched her back when the end credits rolled in.

"You, b*tch! How come you're not emotional?!" Khaila said.

"I've watched that for like a million times. It can't hurt me anymore," she answered before sitting on the ground and facing the coffee table.

"Why do I have this feeling that we're gonna drink," Stella said.

"Because that is exactly what we're gonna do, " Bianca answered, placing the beer bottle on the coffee table.

"I don't wanna get drunk, Bianca." I groaned.

"Then you better play this game right," she said.

"What will we play?" Hope asked.

"It's not really a game like game. We'll just ask questions to each other and answer them honestly. If you refuse to answer the question, you have to drink a shot," Bianca explained.

"Alright. I'll go first," Tori said. "Khaila," she called.

"Yes?" Khaila raised her brows.

"Be honest, do you find John cute?" Tori smirked. We looked at Khaila who has her eyes wide open now.

John was the boy who liked Khaila when we were sophomores but Khaila rejected him. Tragic, I know.

"Answer the mother*ckin' question, sis," Bianca said. Khaila did not reply but instead she drank the beer inside the shot glass.

"That's unfair!" Hope complained.

"I'd drink if I refuse to answer, right?" Khaila said.

"You're no fun." I rolled my eyes.

"Oh, okay, Ms. I-know-to-have-fun." Khaila faced me. "Be honest," she started.

"I'm always honest, b*tch," I said, flipping my hair.

"We'll see about that." She smirked. "Would you ever consider dating Gabriel?"

All of them gasped. As for me, I just laughed. "Y'all already know the answer to that question," I said.

"Maybe you have changed your mind." Khaila shrugged.

"No. I would never date Gabriel ever. Mark my words."
