"Jealousy, that dragon which slays love under the pretence of keeping it alive." ~Havelock Ellis

"What do y'all think?" Hope said after touring us inside her grandma's vacation house. Her grandmother's vacation house is simple but has a super cozy and relaxing feel. It is also very neat which is why we were very careful not to make too much of a mess.

"Your grandma's vacation house is beautiful, Hope," I told her.

"How come it stayed this clean when you don't come here often?" Tori asked.

"Granny always comes here during weekends for the maintenance of this house. She doesn't want to hire people to do it for her because she said that no one does it better than her," Hope answered. "So, I'll let you guys rest for a bit, and let's meet at the beach later," Hope announced, and everyone nodded as a response.

The beach house consists of four rooms. Hope assigned the room where we will be staying in. The four guys are staying in one room, Bianca and Khaila are assigned to the room beside us, Hope and Tori are staying in the room across us, and I'm sharing a room with Stella and Krystal.

When the three of us got into our rooms, Stella immediately laid on the bed. Krystal, on the other hand, unpacked her stuff and placed it in the closet.

I'm lazy to do anything so I joined Stella and closed my eyes to rest for a while.

I woke up to the sound of bag zippers. I opened my eyes and sat upright to see what's going on and I saw Stella and Krystal applying sunscreen on their body. They're already in their bathing suits.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked, standing up to get my swimsuit.

"You seemed really tired and we want you to sleep a little more," Krystal answered.

"Thanks, but I want to enjoy the beach as well," I told them before entering the bathroom and changing into my swimsuit.

I looked at the mirror and checked if I looked okay in the swimsuit I brought. I'm wearing a two-piece teal swimsuit. Its top is like a mermaid shell design and it is partnered with a plain teal bikini bottom. I finished off my look with a messy bun.

When I got out of the bathroom, I applied some sunscreen on my skin too before we went out.

The first thing we saw when we got to the beach was Hope, Tori, and Khaila sitting on beach chairs and chatting with each other. I looked around and saw Jaden, Prince, and Gabriel in the water. Bianca and Damon, on the other hand, were playing with sand like little kids.

Stella walked towards Prince. Krystal and I sat next to the girls.

"Girl, you shouldn't be here. This spot is for all my single ladies out there," Khaila said when I sat next to her.

"It's not my fault that I have a boyfriend and you don't," I countered.

Khaila scoffed. "Why did you invite their boyfriends again?" Khaila asked Hope.

"Oh, come on, Khaila. Leave our best swimmer alone," Tori said, referring to me.

They call me their best swimmer because of how fast I can swim and how far I could go. They always encourage me to join the swim team, but I don't think I can handle too many extracurricular activities given our workload.

I learned how to swim when I was 6 years old. Back at that time, my dad, mom, and I would visit the Philippines often. We have some relatives living there because my dad is half-Filipino.

One day, we went island hopping and the person operating the boat stopped the boat because he told us that we can go snorkeling. Before I can put on my life jacket, my dad pushed me into the water. He then jumped after me. He knows how to swim while I, on the other hand, don't know how.

I panicked at first, but I saw my dad with me and he's holding me. He told me that the reason he pushed me was for me to learn how to swim. He, then taught me how, and surprisingly, I learned fast.

"Wanna join them in the water?" Bianca asked, pointing to the guys and Stella.

"Let's go," Hope said, pulling Tori's arm. I had no choice but to follow them too because everyone went and dipped.

I was busy swimming with the girls when someone splashed water on my face. I rubbed my eyes to see who it was, and it's none other than Mr. Lamppost.

He was laughing at how I reacted when he splashed water in my face. I got annoyed so I splashed water in his face too and I laughed so hard when he swallowed some water making him cough.

He started splashing water profusely. I did the same thing because I don't want to lose to him.

I walked towards him so that I can aim better but I didn't notice the medium-sized rock and as always, my clumsiness got the best of me, so I tripped.

Just my luck, when I was about to fall, I held onto Gabriel for support making us both fall on the water. I instantly got up to catch some air because I did not expect to just plunge in there.

"Oh, God! My nose hurts. This is all your fault," Gabriel said, splashing a bit of water on my face.

"It's the rock's fault, dumbass! Why does it have to be there to make me trip?" I fired back, splashing some water on his face too.

"You're the dumbass! Why didn't you look at where you were walking?"

"Maybe because I was busy getting back at you for putting saltwater on my f*ckin' face!"

"You guys!" Hope tried to stop us, but we continued arguing. "Lianna! Gabriel!"

"What?!" both of us exclaimed in unison.

"Lia, I don't know what your boyfriend's problem was but maybe you should chase after him," Hope said, pointing at Jaden who is now walking back to the beach house.

"It's your fault!" I told Gabriel, pushing him. I followed Jaden after that.

"Jaden, wait!" I yelled when he was about to enter their room. He faced me with his arms crossed over his chest. "Why did you walk away?"

"It's nothing," he answered, coldly.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked but he didn't answer. "Jaden, talk to me."

"I'm jealous," he groaned.

"Of me and Gabriel?" I asked and he nodded. "Why?"

"I don't know, okay?"

I laughed. "You do know that we're enemies, right? There's nothing to be jealous about."

"I saw how he looked at you. It's different," he said.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "It's probably a death glare."

"I don't know how to explain it but it's not a death stare, Lianna. It's something else!"

"You're getting paranoid." I tried calming him down. I stood on my tippy toes and give him a quick peck on the lips. His eyes widened from what I have done. "I love you, Jaden. Only you."

He sighed. "I love you too," he replied before hugging me. I hugged him back. "Just promise me one thing."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Always stay with me no matter what happens," he said, and I looked at him.

I held his face and smiled at him. "I promise."
