"I had a reservation in an Asian restaurant. Is it fine with you?"
Napangisi ako sa kanya.
"So, you prepared this on hand, Mr. Salazar." I said, surprised.
"Of course. Can you please call me Ezekiel when we're not working, Trish?" tumaas ang buhok ko sa batok ng marinig na bigkasin niya ang pangalan ko. It was so familiar. Parang palagi kong naririnig. Mayroon siyang kaboses but I refused to consider and acknowledge that. I nodded.
"No problem, Ezekiel. But, I thought this is still work?" inosente kong tanong. His lips were formed into thin line.
"No, this is not." sagot niya. This sport car is as comfy as fuck.
"Then what is this?" I asked while I closed my eyes. His drive is smooth. I can't help but relax. I heard him chuckled.
"A friendly dinner..." tumango ako sa sagot niya at-"date."
Napadilat ako ng mata sa narinig ko. Hindi na ko muling nagsalita. Okay nothing to get hysterical, Trish! Friendly. Date.
But, are we even friends though? I thought we are now just acquianted?
Pumasok kami sa isang cozy yet elegant restaurant here in BGC. Masarap!
We started eating. It's like he is watching my every damn move.
"Focus on your food, Ezekiel. Not on me." prangkahan kong sabi. I heard him laughed so I laughed too.
"We should go out often. I want to know you better. I'm serious with what I told you when you first went to my office." nakinig ako sa mga sinabi niya. He is talking like this is only some sort of a business. Like he is comfortable with this conversation. How the hell did he do that?
"When we're both free, no problem." I answered like one too. Bakit ba ko naiintimidate dito?
"Where did you have your college?" tanong niya. I thank him in my mind for this light topic.
"U.P. graduate ako. How 'bout you? I guess you're from US of America?"
"You researched a lot about me huh?" mapang asar niyang tanong.
"And you hired a private investigator to check on me." balik kong pang asar. Humalakhak siya and the fuck I swear it's one hot laugh! Like he is seducing someone!
"I don't have to."
Bigla siyang tumikhim. "Well, then we're quits."
He's not bad afterall. We had a great conversation. I'm amazed we didn't talk about Salazar Incorporation or La Casa Vallejo. We just talked about the pros and cons of the other companies. Most of my approved companies are also approve for him.
"I guess you're smart." sabi niya na ikinangisi ko.
"I won't last in this sport if I'm not. You too." I complimented him too but I guess he doesn't need that anymore.
I'm tired.
"Where should I drop you off?" tanong niya nung makapasok na kami sa kotse nya. Nagpahatid na ko sa bahay. I don't want to get my car sa office.
