Kat walked back and forth as she was awaiting for the Prince of Lucis to arrive with his friends. Cor was the only person in the tomb that was patient. Sigh of inpatients left Kat's lips more than once and Cor tried his best not to scoff at her behavior. Kat looked towards the entrance and relief appeared in her eyes as she finally saw Noctis and his friends approaching the tomb through the dark night.
Once they entered, their eyes immediately fell onto Kat who stood there. Noctis blinked a few times to make sure she was actually there and looked at her from top to bottom. He was relieved to see she was alright and didn't seem to be harmed, but felt like she wasn't safe so far from civilization. At least she was with Cor, and that ceased his worry for her safety.
"Kat?" Noctis spoke in disbelief to see her.
"One and only." Brief smirk appeared on her lips.
"What are you doing here?" Noctis asked, glancing at Cor.
"The real question is why you are here." She pointed out and glanced at Cor, playful grin on her face. "Ain't that right, Marshal?"
"Ugh." Cor held back the annoyment and stepped towards the stone coffin where late King lied. "The power of kings, passed from the old to the new through the bonding of souls." Cor gestured towards the sword that was held by the past King statue. "One such soul lies before you. To claim your forebears' power is your birthright and duty as king."
"My duty as king of what?" Noctis questioned and Kat looked at him with sorrow in her eyes, noticing the pain in his soul.
"Now is not the time to question your calling." Cor told him. "A king is sworn to protect his people."
"And yet he chose to protect only one prince." Noctis pointed out. "Was that his calling? Forsake the masses to spare his own son?"
"How long will you remain the protected? The king entrusted the role of protector to you." Cor told him.
"'Entrusted' it to me?" Noctis repeated, mocking the word itself. "Then why didn't he tell me that? Why did he stand there smiling as I left? Why-!"
Noctis slapped his hand onto the golden edge of the stone coffin, his lip trembling while he tried to hold back the need to break down. Kat wanted to rush to him and wrap her arms around him to comfort him, but she held back since she knew she will be babying him when he is supposed to live up to his role as the King.
"Why did he lie to me?" Noctis lowered his head, whispering the words with his eyes closed to hide away the teary eyes.
"That day, he didn't want you to remember him as the king. In what time you had left, he wanted to be your father." Cor explained. "He always had faith in you, that when the time came, you would ascend for the sake of your people."
"Guess he left me no choice."
Noctis straighten his posture with his eyes set on the sword that lied in the hands of the past King. Kat could see the glitter of tears in his eyes and it broke her seeing him in such state. He extended his hand out towards the sword and blue light enlighten the room with shards of crystal filling the silence. The sword glowed and turned into spectral form and raise into the air. Then, it went into Noctis, spinning around him while shards of Crystal surrounded him and then suddenly disappeared.
"The power of kings goes with you, Your Majesty." Cor told him. "That's not the only power your forebears left you. Your journey's just begun. Another tomb lies close by. I suggest you head there next. There are tombs scattered across the land. All are on dangerous ground. That's why Kat is here. She can located them for you."
"I can?" Kat furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"How?" Noctis wondered and Kat only shrugged with her shoulders, all eyes falling on Cor.
