Chapter IX - Chocobos

I know, I know...I haven't updated in a long time. But I have a lot to study and I can't find time or will to write. So this is a chapter I managed to finish. Please, tell me what you think and I'll try to find inspiration to continue writing :D Thank you. 

Leaving Leide region behind and heading into region Duscae, Ignis filled the four of his friends with various information, including the one about Chocobos that got both Prompto and Kat highly interested. However, their true destination was Lestallum, a town in Cleigne region where Gladiolus's sister, Iris is with the rest of the refugees from Insomnia. But before they headed there, they stopped at the Coernix Station- Alstor to fill up the tank. Kat stretched herself as soon as she exited the car.

"I believe we have a solid lay of the land now." Ignis commented as he exited the car. "The driver's seat is your, Noct—if you so desire it." He added and the sound of the phone ringing stopped Noctis's from commenting.

"Who could this be?" Noctis took out his phone and answered the unknown number on the screen. "Hello? Noctis greeted, his eyebrows furrowing briefly. "Iris?" Gladiolus raised his eyebrows at the sound of Noctis saying his sister's name. "Yeah, will do." With one answer, Noctis hung up.

"Was that Iris?" Gladiolus questioned. "Hmph. Can't even call her own brother."

"In all fairness, yours wasn't the obituary broadcast all over Lucis." Ignis pointed out.

"Kat." Prompto nudged Kat's arm, causing her to look at him and towards the direction he was pointing at. "See that sign? Chocobos!" Prompto exclaimed, looking at the sign and was directing towards the Chocobo farm. "Let's go. What do you say?" Prompto asked with large smile on his face.

"No time for that. Need to get to Lestallum." Gladiolus interrupted them after hearing their conversation.

"Oh, come on!" Kat looked towards him, smile playing on her lips. "Let's go see Chocobos. We'll head to Lestallum later." Kat said and looked at Noctis with pleading eyes. "Please, Noctis."

With her pleading eyes looking at him, Noctis knew he couldn't just say 'no'. All of them were aware that Noctis's was weak when it comes to Kat and the expression on his face said it all.

"Sure, let's check it out." Noctis approved.

"Yes!" Both, Prompto and Kat cheered and gave each other high five. "I'll drive." Silence appeared around her while paused expression was set on their faces. "What? Can't a girl drive?" Kat crossed her arms across her chest.

"It would be unusual for a lady to drive with four perfectly capable gentlemen. " Ignis pointed out, causing Kat to laugh slightly.

"I am no lady and the four of you are definitely no gentlemen." Kat pointed out and extended her hand out with palm open. "Keys."

Ignis glanced at Noctis, unsure if he should give them to her or not. Noctis did nothing and Ignis had no other choice but to give the keys to the young lady. With a large smile on her lips, she jumped into the driver's seat and adjusted the seat to her measures. Prompto sat right there where he always did, in passenger seat. With her seat adjusted, Kat adjusted the rear mirror and a laugh burst through her lips. Noctis glared at the girl in driver's seat while he was forced to be seated in between Gladiolus and Ignis, causing all three of them to be squeezed in.

"What?" Noctis questioned grimly through his teeth while Kat was suppressing her laugh.

"Nothing." She shook her head, closing her lips and pulling them into thin line to keep her laugh at minimum. "Okay." Kat turned on the engine. "Let's go see Chocobos." Kat glanced again into the rear mirror to see Ignis briefly holding his head with troubled expression. "Don't worry, Iggy. I am not going to crash. I am quite reliable driver. Right, Noctis?" Kat look at Noctis, who looked back at her in the rear mirror.
