Sun hasn't yet set in and the night still covered the sky. The boat was set ready at the dock underneath the lighthouse and looked good as ever. Talcott, Iris, Cid, Cindy, Cor and Kat were awaiting for Noctis and his friends. Kat couldn't sleep after what happened a few hours before because how her mind seemed to be thinking about the kiss. She could see feel Noctis's lips on hers and every time she remembers it, her heart starts to beat faster and she starts to giggle quietly to herself.
Kat approached Cor who stood by the couch. Cor had his arms crossed across his chest and grim expression as always played on his face. His eyes looked towards her once he saw her stepping down the stairs and turning immediately towards her. Kat's arms wrapped around her body and she walked towards him with her eyes on the ground. Cor stayed silent as he observed her silence. But she soon found her voice and the words she wanted to speak.
"I know why King Regis was searching for a Necromancer." Kat's eyes looked at him while her voice stayed at hearable minimum for only Cor to hear. "Only a Necromancer chosen by the Kings of Lucis and the Six can forever erase Starscourge. Noctis has no heir and if he dies in the end, Caelum line will cease to exist and light will no longer exit. No Caelum, no light and no Crystal."
"Seems like you've reached your Ascension." Cor pointed out, his voice careless causing Kat to scoff, looking away. "Does His Highness know?" Cor wondered and Kat shook her head.
"It is not me who will tell him..." Kat answered and Cor seemed to understand by giving her a light nod.
"Are you aware of the road ahead?" Cor questioned. "Are you ready to help the King?" He uncrossed his arms and took a step towards her.
"I'm aware of how my life will end." Kat answered, determent tone mixed with pain visible in her voice. "But I'm ready to do whatever I have to and make sure the daemons are purged."
"Kat..." Cor stepped forward once more and placed his hand onto her shoulder. "You'll life doesn't have to end the way you think it should."
Kat's eyes glistered with hope for a moment and relief, but her mind couldn't come to any kind of an ending in which her destiny is different. For once, Cor wasn't cold or grim, but actually gave her reassuring smile and there was kindness in his eyes.
"Look Prince Noctis!" Kat and Cor took a step from each other at the sound of Talcott speaking Noctis's name on the catwalk above them. "Even the marshal came to say goodbye!"
Kat stepped away from Cor and created some distance. Noctis walked down the stairs with Gladiolus, Prompto and Ignis followed after him. The moment he took the last step, his eyes fell onto Kat who had made her way towards the dock where the ship was board and Cid was standing by it, doing the final inspection. Noctis watched her, noticing she was wearing different type of clothes that she usually did. And those black clothes showed more of her well-shaped body.
"Something I gotta get off my chest." Cor broke the silence and made Noctis to look away from Kat and towards him with a small sigh.
"What's that?" Cor stayed quiet for a while.
"I'm sorry." Cor looked at Noctis with apologetic look in his eyes. "Sorry I wasn't there for your father." Kat looked over her shoulder at Cor who wore a broken expression. "I swore an oath to protect the king, but I wasn't strong enough to uphold it."
"Ain't nothin' nobody could've done to stop what happened." Cid pointed out as he walked pass Kat and Noctis's companions.
"Yeah, I realize that." Noctis leaned against the railing of the stairs with crossed arms while Cid took a seat on the couch with heaviness.
