The day has come. The day of the rite. The day Noctis will see Lunafreya for the first time in a very long while. She was to present herself to the entire public of Altissia and her words were to spread through all the lands of Eos. Lady Lunafreya was well aware of Noctis's presence here and she was glad he did not take too long to come to Altissia. The presence of last heir of Lumen family brought her relief the most. She was the Necromancer the Gods spoke about, the one who belonged to the missing prophecies.
Hecate Lumen, known by her false identity as Kat Caligo, stared down at the bottom of the gondola. Her mind was drifting between the moral world and the one which only her eyes can see. She heard the voices of the souls in the Ring of the Lucii that Lunafreya safeguarded to give to Noctis. The closer the gondola was bringing them towards the Yureil Plaza, the more she could hear those souls. But what was scaring her was the inability to hear Lady Lunafreya's soul.
The young prince looked from his intertwined hands hanging between his knees towards the young necromancer whose face wore an emotionless expression. Her eyes were blank and stared into the wood of gondola as if she's looking through it. His eyebrows furrowed as he stared with concern at the young woman sitting beside him. Prince's lips parted while his eyes curiously stared at her.
His piercing eyes didn't seem to awake sudden urge inside her mind to look at him. She didn't seem to be aware of anything, but in fact, she was well aware of her surroundings. She fluttered with her long black eyelashes and there was light once again in her light blue eyes. Her eyes looked towards Noctis with a gentle smile appearing on her pale lips and slowly, Noctis returned it, but Kat could see concern and small amount of nervousness within his relaxed expression.
"During the rite...." The attention of four friends was set onto the strategist of their five-member company. "We must see to it the empire does not harass Leviathan."
"Gonna be tough to pull off, before the king receives her power." Gladiolus commented, looking at the young King.
"If..." Kat's stressed voice made them look at her. "...he receives her power." Kat's reply got them all curious. "The Hydraean is quite different from the rest of her fellow Astrals. She has no love for mortals and cares too little for this world." Kat's large eyes looked at Noctis. "Receiving her blessing with the empire involved will be difficult."
"And with four of us on evacuation detail...We won't be able to help you much." Prompto let out a troubled sigh, glancing at Noctis.
"It's alright." Noctis commented. "I'll do everything to receive her blessing."
"Well do the same from our end." Ignis commented. "And we must let Hydraean help herself." Ignis said. "Just like Titan, the empire will seek to immobilize Leviathan."
"Oh..." Prompto exclaimed in realization. "With the harpoon things?"
"If we can dislodge them from the goddess, she will have a fighting chance." Ignis pointed out.
"Sounds good in theory, but don't push it." Gladiolus eyes once again were set on Noctis with hard look in them. "It's pointless unless you can get that blessing."
"Stay flexible, stay alert." Ignis retorted.
"Alright, will do." Noctis gave them all a small nod before he set his eyes on the Necromancer whose mind didn't seem to be quite calm. "Will you be alright?" Noctis voice was laced with concern he had for her, but she simply ignored his concern and gave him a gentle scoff.
"I should be the least of your worries, Noctis." Kat's hand gently stroked his thigh. "I will be fine."
The boys looked away, pretending not to listen to the two. Kat did not wish for Noctis to be distracted before the great battle. She had her own worries and concerns that were distracting her at the moment, and she didn't wish to transfer them onto Noctis. All she could do was to be convincing enough for Noctis to buy what she was saying. But they all knew, Noctis knew her better then she thought.
