Chapter 78: Even if you're piggybacking me, you have to finish walking down this road
Translator: Angela
Before his mother exploded with rage, Mai Ding wanted to drag An Ziyan out of the room: "I think we should come back later."
"Stop. Since you came as well, then let's make things clear." Mai Ding's mother calmed herself.
An Ziyan looked at Mai Ding and nodded at him. Only then did Mai Ding release his hand from holding onto An Ziyan. An Ziyan walked up and bowed courteously in front of Mai Ding's grandmother: "Grandmother, my name is An Ziyan. I am your grandson's boyfriend."
This An Ziyan was even more direct than Mai Ding. Grandmother looked at An Ziyan. It was so awkward that she didn't know what to say; she could only nod and bluntly reply:
"Oh."
Mai Ding's mother looked straight at An Ziyan, and An Ziyan did not try to hide as he stared right back at her: "Ziyan, it's not like I don't like you. If Mai Ding could be friends with you, then I would be delighted. But this kind of thing... You're smarter than Mai Ding so you cannot possibly be unaware of the kinds of consequences that will come from this!"
"I really don't know what will happen."
"What will happen to your futures? Who will respect you? You two will have to live under the pointing and ridiculing of others for the rest of your lives. Right now, love is making your minds a mess, you think that everything can be resolved. But if you calm down to think, can things really be solved? Can you find a secluded place to hide where there isbno one but yourselves?" Mai Ding's mother's words were indeed rational, but they were still not enough to convince An Ziyan.
"Auntie, I never thought of finding a place to hide with Mai Ding. Nor did I ever think tha love would solve all problems. I can't control this society or how others see us. I don't want to control them because I don't care about their opinions in the first place."
"If you don't care about other people's opinions, then why are you here speaking withme? You can do whatever you want to do."
"But you aren't just anyone, you're Mai Ding's mother. I can't let him receive everyone's blessing, but I want him to at least get the blessings from his loved ones."
Mai Ding's mother laughed sarcastically, "Do you really think you have the ability to do that? You want my blessing? That's impossible. I will not agree to send my son on this road to disaster. I am a mother, what's wrong with what I'm doing? I'm only protecting my own son. Ziyan, just let my Mai Ding go. You can obviously find someone better and more talented than Mai Ding."
"Then what's wrong with what I'm doing? I'm your son. Is it so difficult to want to find happiness?" Mai Ding couldn't help but to interrupt. Mai Ding's mother became even angrier: "You only know how to help him? I am your mother. Does he have any blood relations with you or something?"
Grandmother watched as the scene became increasingly out of control. She wanted to help persuade them, but she didn't know where to start. It's not like she hasn't seen the haggard and fragile Little Ding these days. She personally did not agree with two men being together, but she was also quite confused. Was all this really for Little Ding's own good, or was all this conflict happening just because of the concept of 'two men cannot be in a relationship'?
Mai Ding muttered: "If we really were related, then that would be incest." An Ziyan glared at Mai Ding, signalling him not to talk back, which caused Mai Ding to close his mouth. When Mai Ding's mother saw this, it made her even more enraged. No matter what she said, Mai Ding would not want to listen. Yet a random thing An Ziyan said, Mai Ding obediently listened. The feeling of the imbalance of being a mother emerged in her heart.
