Chapter 87: Incomprehensible Pain

An Ziyan didn't eat dinner and instead, he slept in bed all day long. Mai Ding sat at his bedside, confused at An Ziyan's behaviour. Usually, An Ziyan would say whatever he wanted, but this time he only gave Mai Ding silence. It was true that An Ziyan could say just about anything, but when it came to his own jealousy, he just couldn't open his mouth. In his mind, he kept seeing the images of the of them chatting happily and of Mai Ding constantly praising Lu Wei. Inside the room, all that was left was the sound of their breathing. Who knew that silence was such a painful thing? The problem was, Mai Ding simply didn't know what he did wrong to receive An Ziyan's cold and indifferent attitude. He felt it was very strange.

The next day, An Ziyan still didn't talk to Mai Ding. When the two of them walked downstairs together, they found that Lu Wei was waiting for Mai Ding outside with a harmless expression on his face. Mai Ding was surprised to see Lu Wei there. He ran over to him, which made An Ziyan frown angrily.

"How come you're here?"

"You dropped your cellphone on the ground yesterday. When I wanted to give it back to you, you already went home. I didn't want to go upstairs and bother you." Lu Wei was full of goodwill. No one would normally be able to see any hint of his schemes. However, An Ziyan was your average person. Just looking at this smiling tiger made An Ziyan's blood boil.

Mai Ding was very apologetic: "I'm so sorry to bother you this early in the morning."

"I have nothing to do anyway. If you feel like you owe me, then you can treat me to a cup of coffee."

An Ziyan walked over, grabbed Mai Ding's wrist, and stared coldly at Lu Wei: "Hey old man, we still have to go to school."

Being called an old man almost made Lu Wei lose his mind, but he held it in and put a generous expression on his face. Mai Ding rushed forward to stop An Ziyan: "Don't mind him, he's like this to everyone."

Mai Ding just kept testing An Ziyan's limit over and over again.

"Are you coming or not?"

"What are you getting angry for? I'm so confused. Who provoked you? Why are you sharing your anger with someone you don't even know? He's my friend, okay?" Mai Ding was already the subject of An Ziyan's anger for an entire day, which made him feel miserable. Getting yelled at so early in the morning made Mai Ding talk back at An Ziyan. Lu Wei was nice enough to come give back his cellphone, yet he had to be the subject of An Ziyan's anger.

An Ziyan was stunned for a moment and stared at Mai Ding, which made Mai Ding shudder. Why was he so angry? An Ziyan clenched his fists: "You're protecting another man in front of me?" In his voice, there was an unspeakable amount of disappointment. When he finished speaking, he unclenched his fists and turned around. From An Ziyan's back, Mai Ding couldn't see An Ziyan's loss and helplessness. An Ziyan got on his car and sped away.

"W-what are you talking about, An Ziyan?!! Come back here and explain yourself clearly!" Mai Ding yelled. What did Mai Ding do to him this early in the morning to make him angry? Who was Mai Ding protecting? It was obvious that he was just always angry, so why did he have to say it like Mai Ding did something wrong?

If this was before, An Ziyan would have beaten up Lu Wei a long time ago. But if he really did that, he would probably become a real bastard in Mai Ding's eyes. The more you care, the more you are tied down. An Ziyan slammed his fist against the window and cursed: "Idiot!" He didn't know if he was scolding himself or Mai Ding.

Mai Ding couldn't see a lot of things, and therefore often missed them. If you cannot grab onto happiness, what can you use to resist pain? He couldn't see An Ziyan's loss and uneasiness. He also couldn't see desires in Lu Wei's eyes. It was as if he was an ignorant child.
