Mai Ding waved a DVD in front of An Ziyan: "An Ziyan, don't you think that these movies and TV shows are really fake? Bombs are never defused until the very last second. The main character is up against a dozen enemies firing their guns at him, but if he rolls a couple times, he's safe. On the other hand, the supporting characters are shot dead the second they enter the battlefield. And when the female lead is about to abused, the male lead kicks the door open at the perfect time. The Grey Wolf is so crafty and smart, yet he can't catch and eat a single sheep. There's so many more examples out there. How in the world are there so many coincidences like these?"
"Then what do you want to see? The characters being blown up the second they enter the room? The main character getting shot dead the second he appears? The male lead kicking the door after the female lead is already abused? The Grey Wolf eating up all of the sheep?"
"I didn't mean it like that, I just wanted to ask you." If what An Ziyan had said was true, then there would be no point in watching TV anymore.
"Most people can't handle tragedies. Even though it has nothing to do with them, they still hope for a happiness."
"I also like happiness, just like how I like you. You are my happiness."
"You only need to say these kinds of words once a month."
"If other people wouldn't be able to hear these words even if they wanted to."
"Then other people must be really lucky."
Mai Ding stood up from the couch and made a face at An Ziyan: "I'm going to go study, it's almost exam season."
"Okay."
With his feet bare, Mai Ding sat on his stool as he seriously studied, his leg bouncing up and down. As long as it was something he was determined to do, he would put all his effort in it no matter what the outcome would be. It was the same back when he tried to love An Ziyan with all his might. By midnight, Mai Ding could no longer keep his eyes open and fell asleep on the desk. After An Ziyan finished his shower, he carried Mai Ding princess-style to the bed, covered him with a blanket, and returned to the desk. He looked at the review questions Mai Ding worked on, picked up a pen, and corrected all of the wrong ones. He even wrote above each correction a clear explanation why it was wrong.
You never let me see your love for me, but I always feel it in my heart.
Today, it was Mai Ding's mother's birthday. Mai Ding dressed his father to look practically like a giant red lantern, saying that it was festive. However, when he saw all this red on his father and on himself, he started to feel uncomfortable.
An Ziyan led Mai Ding's mother, who was clueless of what was going on, to the hotel door. Mai Ding covered his mother's eyes: "Mom, you can only open your eyes once I count to three."
"Why don't you count to three hundred?" An Ziyan never these kinds of old-fashioned and cheesy actions before.
Mai Ding stepped on An Ziyan's foot, then gently counted to three and let go of his hands. The dark lobby suddenly lit up as ribbons and streamers flew in every direction. Forty or fifty people stood there and shouted 'happy birthday' in unison. Mai ding leaned towards his mother's ear, who was incredibly surprised: "Mom, happy birthday. Dad arranged everything, that's why he was sneaking around recently."
Mai Ding's mother was still a little upset when she gave Mai Ding's father a glare, but she couldn't hide the smile forming at the corner of her mouth. Before, they never held birthday parties. They usually just had a simple meal together as a family. As she saw that her former colleagues, old friends, husband, son, and of course her son's husband, were all standing beside her, Mai Ding's mother was so happy that she didn't know what to say; her eyes glittered with tears. Bai Xiaosi walked over with a gift: "Auntie, these are some cosmetics I brought back from overseas. I hope that you'll stay young forever."
