When Mai Ding was about to die from the awkward atmosphere, Grandfather An came down from upstairs: "Little Ding is here?"
Mai Ding raised his head, smiled, and walked over to lend Grandpa a hand: "Grandpa, happy new years."
"Thank you, thank you, happy new year's to you too. When did you arrive? Couldn't you have let me know?"
"We just got here."
An Ziyan stood up and let his grandfather sit on the couch instead. Grandfather already heard the conversation just now. He chuckled and faced Wu Xin: "It's the holidays, if you have something to say, then say it nicely. They're relationship is already at this stage, yet you're still trying to stop it? What's the point? Can't you just let go?"
Wu Xin grunted and didn't speak. Grandfather An's arrival allowed Mai Ding to heave a sigh of relief. An Su finished changing her clothes and also came downstairs; she was still rather upset that An Ziyan called her fat. She sat next to An Xun, checked the time (it was almost noon), and touched her stomach: "I'm hungry."
Mai Ding's eyes lit up, the time for him to shine arrived. He stood up: "H-how about I cook today?"
An Ziyan pointed with his chin: "The kitchen is over there."
Mai Ding quickly ran to the kitchen. To be honest, escaping from that situation allowed him to feel a lot more relaxed. When he got to the kitchen, he was stunned: it was very spacious and had a vast supply of food and ingredients, many of which Mai Ding had never seen before. He rolled up his sleeves, turned on the faucet, and began to wash vegetables. An Su leaned against the kitchen's door frame: "You've got guts coming here."
Mai Ding was surprised by the sudden sound, but when he saw that it was An Su, he sighed of relief. Compared the Wu Xin, An Su was no longer much of a threat.
"Do you really think I wanted to come? An Ziyan forced me. And what are you doing here?"
"Just seeing if you're poisoning the food."
"I wouldn't dare. I've never been able to go against anyone in your family. You know, at home I have to work like an animal for An Ziyan. Now, I have to be a servant for your family. What kind of a life is this?"
"Just be happy with how my brother treats you." There was obviously some jealousy in An Su's voice.
"How he treats me? He bullies me at every single opportunity he has."
"As far as I know, he's willing to go watch those weird fantasy movies with you, let you play his piano, buy you flowers, and things like that. An Ziyan, he's my brother, you know? He's willing to do all these things for you! Who knows how much dog shit you stepped on in your previous life to deserve this. Of course, there was also the time when you made him go to the zoo with you. The thing he hates most in this world is the zoo because when he was small, a monkey grabbed him."
An Su's words made Mai Ding feel light and fluttery, he couldn't help but feel a little shy: "You really think so?"
"Look at that look on your face. But don't say I didn't warn you, my mom isn't that easily impressed. Do you really think that she would open all the doors for you just because you cooked her a meal? There's nothing about you that is in line with what she wants in a daughter-in-law."
"You're belittling me!"
"I'm not belittling you, you're just little to begin with. What do you have? The face of an angel or the body of a devil? An amazing family background? You have none of these. You don't even have the ability to give birth to a baby."
