Chapter 14

Dr. Tsing's pov
"Sir it's been three days and Maya's numbers are still climbing. It's too soon to be sure but I believe she may actually be metabolizing radiation on her own now. Jasper's blood was eight times more effective than any outsider we've measured. I'm still running tests but his system appears to have jump-started hers." I said
"You're saying that it's a permanent solution, Maya can survive on the ground?" Cage asked.
"I'm saying it's possible, I'll keep watching her. In the meantime sir, you have to let me move forward with the rest of the 47." I said
"No." Dante said
"Dad, I agree with her. I know that the plan was to assimilate them into the gene pool but this changes everything." Cage said
"She just said it's not proven." Dante said
"Mr. President, even if it's not a permanent solution with their blood we'll need fewer treatments. We'll live longer and we'll feel better." I said
"Jasper volunteered. I will not put those kids in cages like animals." Dante said
"No one wants that. If you can convince the rest of them to volunteer great, but what if you can't? Every day you paint the outside and if Dr. Tsing is right about this you might be able to see it again, dad." Cage said
"Listen to me, you need to understand if I give the order to harvest those kids I won't deserve to see it again." Dante said walking away
"Where are you going?"cage asked
"To find you some volunteers." Dante said He leaves.
"He'll come around." Cage said to me
"What if he doesn't. What if they don't volunteer?" I asked
"Then we'll have to do it anyway." Cage said.

Giselle's pov
A group consisting of Octavia, Finn, Clarke, Raven, Bellamy, Abby, some guards and I are walking through the forest.
"I can't believe they let Finn come." Octavia said
"Me either, he's a lost cause" I said
"He's also the Best tracker we've got. Don't forget to look up, the grounders use the trees that's how we lost John Mbege." Bellamy said

Abbys pov
"You were right to have me bring them." I said
"Don't worry. Your guards will get there." Clarke said
" I know you're worried about Finn." I said
"Thank you for voting to clear him." Clarke said
"He thought he was rescuing his friends. The real question is, is he going to be able to clear himself?" I said

Kane's pov
I am locked in the grounder prison trying to get a chain off my ankle.
"Kane, stop. If they'd wanted to kill us,they would've done it already." Jaha said
"Two days without food or water." I said
"Come on, how many times on the Ark did we go two days without water? This is not how our story ends, Marcus. We didn't wind up in the same train station on the ground just to die in it. We still got work to do." Jaha said
"How can you be so sure?" I asked
"My son told me." Jaha said I stand up when I notice two grounders entering. They come and take Jaha who fights back.
"Stop! We came in peace! We came in peace, please!" I said
"You speak of peace when you send an assassin into one of my villages." Gustus said "What are you talking about?" I asked
"Blood must have blood." Gustus said He fetches a knife.
"One of you will die here, today by the other's hand. We will hear the terms of your surrender from the man who lives. Fetch us when it's done." Gustus said directing the last part to a girl grounder
"They want us to turn on each other." Jaha said
"They want justice." The girl said.
"Lives have been lost on both sides. That's why we need to end this war!" I said I throw my  jacket across the cell. Jaha walks over the girl who is overseeing them.
"What's your name?" Jaha asks
"Lexa." The girl responds
"Lexa, I'm Thelonious and this is Marcus. Your commander spoke of an assassin in the village?" Jaha said
"Yes, eighteen of our people were murdered. Elders, children." Lexa said
"We had nothing to do with it." I said
"It doesn't matter, the commander thinks you did. One of you must pick up the knife that is our way." Lexa said
"And if we refuse?" Jaha asked
"Then the commander will use it to slit both of your throats." Lexa said.

Jaspers pov
Jasper is being given various gifts by the Mount Weather citizens.
"Jasper, I hoped to catch you before you were discharged. I see I'm not the only one impressed by your courage." Dante said
"I just do what anyone would do." I said
"I like to believe that's true. May I walk with you?" Dante said
"Sure." I said
"After what happened to Maya I'm sure it won't come as a surprise to you to learn we're not entirely safe here. Mount Weather wasn't built to last this long overtime bits of radiation seep in. The breach in the dorm was an extreme example. We have methods for dealing with this but frankly, those methods pale compared to what we saw with you and Maya." Dante said
"Sir, I don't think I could do that for everyone." I said
"Of course not, but if you could inspire your friends to follow your example imagine the difference you could make here." Dante said

Giselle's pov
I was following Bellamy and Octavia a twig snapped under my foot I silently cursed.
"Who's there?" Bellamy called out. I walked out of the trees.
"Giselle what are you doing here?" He said sighing in relief that it was just me.
"Did you really think I wouldn't see you sneak away from the group?" I asked
"Told ya" octavia said smirking.
"Stay by my side" Bellamy said to me

Clarkes pov
Raven is looking through binoculars.
"There I see it." Raven said talking about the signal jammer.
"Here." I said raven passed me the binoculars I look through them.
"It'll be dark soon, we'll never spot the traps. We should set up camp here, leave at first light." I said
"We're missing three. Where the hell are they?" Abby said
"Bellamy! Octavia! Giselle!" A guard said.
"Clarke we're in enemy territory and their lives are my responsibility." Abby said
"They went to find a way in." I said
"A way in, that's not what this mission is about." Abby said
"It is for them." I said
"Find them, bring them back!" Abby said

Giselle's pov.
"According to the Clarke, and the bombs the buildings everywhere here. I'm guessing some of them has access to the bunker so we're looking ruins anything that's manmade ok?" Bellamy said
"Hey! Blake! Let's go right now!" Sgt. Scott said walking up to us.
"In case you've forgotten, we're not under your command." I said
"Don't make us do this the hard way." Sgt. Scott said. Bellamy pulled me behind him slightly
"Come on Scott, 47 of our people are prisoners in this mountain." Bellamy said
"That's why we're here." Sgt. Scott said
"Wrong you're out here to find other stations of the Ark. We're out here to find our friends." Bellamy said. I notice bugs running away and nudge Tavi. She notices.
"Bell." She said looking at the bugs.
"What are they doing?" Sgt. Scott asked
"Running." Bellamy said and notices the acid fog.
"Acid fog! We need cover now!" Bellamy says Octavia notices the bugs and follows them. I watch her curious.
"O! O! Get back here!" Bellamy said.
"Bell, there's something in here! Maybe there's some ruins." Octavia said
"Hey! Hey! Over here!" Bellamy said to the guards, noticing the door.
"Come on pull!" Sgt. Scott said
"Hurry up!" Octavia said we pry the door open and run inside, we yell for the other guards to get in but one is swallowed by the acid fog.
"No! No!" Sgt. Scott said as we closed the door.

Abbys pov.
Raven and I are in a tent shielded from the acid fog.
"Clarke! Clarke, do you read me?" I said into the radio.
"We're closer to the source, it's swallowing short range now too." Raven said
"Clarke, do you read me? Damn it!" I said
"Clarke and Finn know these woods." Raven said
"She left her pack and her tent is in it." I said
"They'll find shelter." Raven adjusts the frequency on a radio system and voices are heard.
"What is that?" I asked
"I don't know. But it sounds like they're jamming every frequency but this one. You hear that! This one's clear!" Raven said
"That sounds clear to you?" I said just hearing static
"Will be once I crack the encryption." Raven said
"Ok, English, Raven what does that mean?"
"It means we'll be able to listen in on Mount Weather."

Giselle's pov
Bellamy, Octavia, Sgt. Scott, another Guard and I are searching the Reaper tunnels.
"Where are we?" Sgt. Scott said
"It's like a garage." Bellamy said
"More like a tomb." Octavia said
"Look I'm sorry about your man but we need to find an access door to Mount Weather." Bellamy said
"Hey not so fast." Sgt. Scott said
"Sir, that fog will keep us pinned down for another-" Bellamy said getting cut off when Sgt Scott hands him a gun.
"We'll split up, be back in fifteen. Be safe." Sgt. Scott said
"Let's go." Bellamy said before looking back at me.
"Stuck to you like glue" I said knowing he'd want me by his side. Octavia stifled a laugh and Bellamy rolled his eyes.
