Chapter 23

Lexa's pov
Gustus and I approach the village on horseback.
"Open the gate!" One of my men said seeing me.
"Weapons." Gustus said to the sky people showing them where to leave their weapons.
"We need to disarm before we enter."Lincoln said laying his dagger in the bin. Clarke, Bellamy, Giselle, and Kane lay their weapons in the bin. Raven stands in front of Gustus who disarms her one weapon at a time.
"Commander, all clear." Gustus said
"Commander, welcome back! Why have you brought them here? Death to Sky People! Murderers go home!" One of my people said
"Sky People took everything from me my wife, my child." A man said
"Step aside." Gustus said
"Murderers are not welcome here." The man says, I give Gustus a signal and he attacks the Grounder man knocking him and ground and proceeds to beat him.
"Commander, stop him, please. They'll blame us for this too." Clarke begged me
"Let him live. The Sky People march with us now anyone who tries to stop that will pay with their life." I said to everyone

Bellamy's Pov
"Warm welcome" I muttered to Giselle
"What else is there around here?" Giselle said sarcastically
"Stay by my side at all times." I said to her
"I can protect myself" Giselle said
"Hey I mean it. It's dangerous here" I whispered
"As if I was going to leave your side anyway. You might need protection" Giselle whispered in my ear cheekily biting it before she pulled away

Maya's pov
Jasper, Monty, Miller, and I are in the Art Warehouse.
"Right here. The communication lines are behind this wall." Monty said Monty and Jasper move the art out of the way before Miller fetches a giant hammer.
"Big ass enough for you?" Miller asks monty referring to the hammer. Monty nods.
"Wait they'll hear you!" I said standing in front of miller as he went to smash the wall
"This was the plan. I knew it, she's afraid of losing her blood supply." Miller said
"Look you can hate me all you want Miller and you can blame me for what my people are doing but I'm trying to make things right." I said
"Then get the hell out of my way." Miller said
"Five seconds." I said
"What happens in five seconds?" Monty asked
"Miller realizes what a dick he is?" Jasper said as an alarm sounds.
"Now you owe me a favor." I said as Miller strikes the wall with the hammer.
"Jackpot." Monty said once we got through the wall

Third person
The funeral ritual is beginning.
"People of Tondc. In fire, we cleanse the pain of the past." Lexa said
"People of Tondc. In fire, we cleanse the pain of the past." Lincoln said Lexa is handed a torch to conduct the ritual.
"Clarke." Lexa says and hands the torch to Clarke. Clarke takes the torch. She lowers it towards the pyre with the help of 'Finn' and it burns.
"Yu gonplei ste odon." Clarke said watching Finns body burn.

Monty Pov
"Just have to get a loop over the ark wide channel and get it to transmit somebody's bound to hear it." I said as we started hearing a noise
"Well that don't sound good." Miller said
"I've heard this. From the black box of the Exodus ship before it crashed. They crashed the Exodus ship." I said
"Damn, thanks a lot. What are they jamming now?" Jasper asked
"Everything. Probably to keep our people from talking to each other." I said

Lexa's pov
"I lost someone special to me too. Her name was Costia. She was captured by the Ice Nation who's Queen believed she knew my secrets because she was mine. They tortured her, killed her, cut off her head." I said to clarke
"I'm sorry." She said
"I thought I'd never get over the pain but I did."
"How?"
"By recognizing it for what it is. Weakness."
"What is? Love?" Clarke asked and I nodded
"So you just stopped caring about everyone?" I nodded again
"I could never do that."
"Then you put the people you care about in danger and the pain will never go away. The dead are gone, Clarke, the living are hungry."

The Sky People and Tree People are gathered in a dining hall.
"Please accept this gift, Commander. We drink this at special occasions I believe this qualifies." Marcus Kane said handing me a bottle of liquor. Gustus takes it.
"Thank you, Marcus of the sky people." I said
"You're welcome, Lexa kom trikru. Just uh don't drink too much of it." Kane said
"Clarke, let us drink together." I said
"It would be my pleasure." She responded. Gustus hands Lexa two goblets each which she fills. She hands one to Clarke.
"Heda, allow me." Gusts said Gustus takes a sip from the goblet.
"Today we celebrate out peace, tomorrow we plan our war. To those we've lost, to those we shall soon find." I said as Gustus collapses, poisoned.
"This wasn't us! You have to know this wasn't us!" Clarke said
"Don't let him die!" I said
"Everybody out! Search them!" Indra said
"NO! No, we didn't do this." Clarke said
"Gustus warned me about you but I didn't believe him.Tell me something Clarke, when you plunged the knife into the heart of the boy you loved did you not wish that it was mine?" I said
"Heda." One of my men said pulling poison out of a girl called Ravens coat
"That's not mine!" Raven said
"This was in her coat." My man said
"I'm telling you it's not mine! He put it there when he searched me!" Raven Sid
"No Sky Person leaves this room!" I said leaving.

Monty pov
"Our message is broadcasting but it's over a jammed frequency." I said
"So unjam it!" Miller said
"What do you think I've been trying to do? The only way to shut to down is from the source. I need 5 minutes in the command center." I said
"No way you heard Maya it's too dangerous." Jasper said

Giselle's pov
"Raven, I need to know the truth." Clarke said walking up to raven
"I'd step back if I was you." Raven said
"You wanted me to kill Lexa yesterday if you tried to poison her I need to know." Clarke said Raven punches Clarke in the face.
"You're the only murderer here!" Raven yelled
"Hey raven calm down." I said
"I didn't do it Giselle" raven told me
"I believe you raven. We're going to find a way to prove that" I said

Clarke's pov
"Listen to me Clarke, I know how you feel. But the pain will never go away but Lexa's wrong you won't be haunted by this forever. The pain will fade. What got me through was loving you." Abby said
"You're talking about dad? What I did to Finn was nothing like what you did to him!" I said
"Don't do this now Clarke!" Abby said
"I was protecting everyone. I didn't have a choice you did! You turned him in!" I said "I trusted Thelonious to talk to your father and convince him not to go public!" Abby said
"You knew dad would never stop! You knew what would happen to him!" I said
"I was protecting everyone too! I was protecting you!" Abby said.

Third person
Miller, Maya, and Jasper have returned to the dormitory.
"Did you find the radio?" Miller asked
"No, where's Monty?" Jasper asked
"I thought he was with you." Miller said
Monty is pretending to do a decontamination to enter the control room.
"Again? You were just here yesterday." The guard said.
"Routine follow-up. Shouldn't take long." Monty said. Monty removes the helmet and makes his way to the control panel once the guard is gone.
