Brian's family (Theory)

I got this idea by reading 10ToTheArk01's chapter about Tim's father. Arigato!

So.
First of all: do you remember that?

Alex: "Say your name to the camera."
Brian: "Uh.. My name is Brian?"
Alex: "Full name?"
Brian: "That is my full name."

If you don't, it's from the audition entry.

But.. Why doesn't Brian say his full name? I mean, it's confirmed by the creators that he does have one. So why doesn't he tell?

Well. I think something actually might have happened with/to his family.

1) They died/got killed. If Brian watched doesn't matter right now.. Yeah.
His whole family died and only he was left and maybe, as to not remember them too often because that hurts, he doesn't use his last name often. Like, it wasn't totally necessary to him to tell Alex's cam what his full name is, you know?
Might explain why he became Hoodie, too. If his family was killed, of course, he would have gotten a strong dislike towards a killer, like Alex kind of is.

2) He had a huge fight with them (again?) and ceased contact.
He's angry with them and as to not have any connection with his family at all, he doesn't use his last name if not needed.

3) He doesn't have a family at all. Maybe he's an orphan and becomes sad every time he gets reminded of it? I mean, to me "Thomas" sounds like a last name every 9th American has..
