"Kelsey, are you okay?" Lin asks once he picks up his phone.

"I'm fine. Do you have like five minutes?"

"Yeah, why?"

"I'm walking home alone and I'd rather be on the phone incase I get kidnapped or something." I say with a sad laugh. "You don't have to talk or anything. No one could answer and I'd feel a lot better with someone on the other end."

"Of course, you can always call me for that."

"Thanks. I'm only- like- four minutes away." He doesn't say anything for a while and neither do I. I can hear him shuffling papers or something and maybe he can hear my steps or the wind but I don't know.

"Hey." Someone yells, pushing me over. I kick his shin, grab my phone and sprint in the other direction, pulling my bag up over my shoulder.

"Kelsey!" Lin yells as I lift my phone back up.

"I'm fine. I'm... fine." I say, shutting the door behind me. "I'm inside. Thanks, Lin. I'll see you tomorrow." I hang up and start my way up the stairs. My phone buzzes again and I wait to answer until I'm out of the stairs because my voice echoes and I don't want everyone in the building to hear me.

"What happened?"

"I fell."

"I heard someone."

"I'm fine. I swear."

"Okay, text me if you need anything." He says, not completely convinced.

"Alright, thanks, bye." I hang up again. At least he cares. He's at least fifteen years older then me and Pippa is only like six, Jazzy too but they're basically the only people who have ever watched out for me like this. Another reason that I can't lose this job.

Lin's POV
"Alright, love ya." I give V a quick kiss before she heads out of the theater and to work. I walk past three doors, peaking in to see a two or three people in each, but the most are in the fourth, a larger room and has the rest of them.

"Morning, guys. Two show Saturday. How's everyone feeling?"

"Let's do this thing!"

"Dead."

"Pretty good."

"Like I'll need some beer tonight." I laugh look at the other half of the room.

"I'll survive."

"I might not. Kelsey, will you help with my funeral?" Kelsey just laughs and continues to flip through a few pages and write some things down, not answering my question. I come in and join them as we drink coffee. I glance up at Kelsey after about ten minutes. Finances. She's dealing with her bills and shit in the corner, trying to go unnoticed by all of us. I can't help but smile when she flips the page and smiles at the page. Yeah, I can't let her lose this job, even if she's young and mildly traumatized by her childhood. She shuts her binder, stacks her papers, and slips it in her bag. My eyes land on part of her forearm where a red mark is. Not a bad one but also probably attempted to be covered up. She sits down next to Sydney and drinks her tea as we talk. Before going to get miked, I pull her aside.

"What the hell happened last night?"

"I'm fine, Lin."

"That's not what I asked. I asked what happened."

"I got pushed over and ran before they took anything." She doesn't give a single detail.

"Thank god you're okay."

"I told you. I'm fine. Now go! You need to get miked."

"See you on stage."

"And Lin." I turn back to her. "Thanks for looking out for me." I smile.

"Course."
