"5,6,7,8." The teacher calls. I'm out of breath and extremely tired. Plus my feet are gonna fall off if I wear these shoes another minute.

"Don't isolate the movement so much. Let them flow together." It seems like forever that we finish it the last time and I get to wash myself in the locker room.

"So Lin just doesn't know?"

"Vanessa thought it's better that way. It's just choreography that I'm not performing myself." I need to it make now, though. It's a show with that performance company. Vanessa says I should do it but neither of us want to tell Lin yet. I spend the next three hours in the basement studio, choreographing for the show. They tell me to lock up and give me the keys so even though I'm exhausted, I just keep going to the end of the section and then remember that I have to choreograph two solo's for some of the kids competitions. I tell Vanessa that I'm gonna stay with Jessica and then I work on those. I decide to stop around five in the morning. My body can't do it. That's about five hours of choreographing and as tired as my body is, my brain is. After showering- again- I go to the coffee shop and get an iced coffee even though I generally don't like it, and a muffin, pulling out my computer and doing some schoolwork as I eat it. I have to go back to the studio soon so I just stay and keep working after I've finished eating. I stop at the connivence store and get some gum.

"Hello?" I asks, answering my phone as I walk out.

"Kelsey, were are you?" Lin asks.

"Uh, on my way to the studio. I have to teach."

"Yeah. But is everything okay. I haven't seen you here for a long time."

"Yeah, everything's fine. Do you need me to babysit Sebastian tonight?"

"No, that's alright. Did you eat?"

"Yup. Blueberry muffin."

"Good." He says, but I can't tell if he believes me. Either way, I have to get to the studio and teach as if I slept.

"I'm dead." I say, sliding my back down the wall. Tommy walks through the doorway next to me and snaps his fingers in front of me. "I'm conscious but dead." Jazzy laughs and helps me back to my feet as Sasha hands me an apple.

"Thanks."

"Oh, um, Lin wants to know why you're a zombie." Tommy says. "And Andy wants to know if you can assist Saturday."

"What time?"

"Ten to twelve."

"Um." I scramble through my mind, trying to see if I can. "Yeah. I don't teach till twelve thirty."

"What a break you're on. Do you have like any, well, recovery time?" I shrug, putting my computer on the table.

"Maybe not but I enjoy dancing."

"And bookkeeping?"

"It's alright. I only hate it every once and a while. But I don't always love dance." No one always loves it. I ask about rehearsals and they tell me about it as I log in and start my work when they leave to get ready.

"Lin, she's not going to just sit here and do nothing. I get that you want her to recover but she's twenty. She's young and talented, and full of ideas and things that she wants to put into this world. You can't hold her back from that." I watch Sebastian sleep well sitting on the edge of the chair in there, listening.

"But she should be closely watched. I'm letting her dance and do her schoolwork. She won't settle."

"She's grown up caring for herself. I'm not gonna let her move into an apartment or something for a while but I'm not gonna force her to stop teaching."

"I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that she hasn't been here all week. I have no clue how she's been eating and I've barely spoken to her." How do they not know how well I can here them?

"Than talk to her now." There's a silence. "She's here right now. Her schoolwork is over there so she's not doing it."

"Is she awake?" Silence. Maybe she nods because I hear his footsteps near the door not long after. He probably checks the ither room first.

"Oh, shit. You probably heard all of that." He whispers because Seb is asleep.

"Yeah."

"Let's go for a walk."
