I open up the cabinet above the kitchen countertop between the small fridge and the sink. It must be three or four in the morning. The light in here dim but enough so that I can see. Aha. Medicine. I look back at her and lift up one of the prescribed ones. There are several. I don't know what they are for though. I only recognize one name and It's an antidepressant. The Advil and ibuprofen are in the other side. I push them aside and find tums. Behind that, in the back of the cabinet, vodka. I shut it and step back, feeling something break beneath my foot. On the floor is some left over pieces of glass and a dustpan, the broom part separate. I clean it up and walk out of that area and back to her books. She's very neat. I guess she just didn't have time to clean it up.
I look at the books that she has here. Two on law, one science, and some classic novels and some music books. On top of her dresser is a candle, stack of books, and a picture of a lady that looks a little like her. I shiver in the cold room and sit down besides her. She tosses around a bit and doesn't wake as I settle her down. At last, she seems at peace again. Too at peace.
"Kelsey?" I hurry back to the kitchen and scan the draws quickly until I see a thermometer. I rush back over to her and I can't get her to wake up to take her temperature so I almost have to force it.

"What!" Pippa practically yells. "Oh my god, is she okay?""I think. They brought it down to 103 but she got sick over the course of a day, It's seriously concerning."
"Did she know that she was sick before she came?" Anthony asks, sitting in my seat at my vanity while I sit in a more comfortable chair.
"Probably because it got so high and that can only happen so quickly without killing her. But I doubt she saw that coming, clearly."
"So when will she be better?"
"She might be released tomorrow. She won't be better but knowing her, she'll try to be. I'm covering her expenses and I'm terrified of how she's going to react."
"She has two months of decent pay. She knows she can't afford it. Not if she wants to go to school. Her insurance wouldn't cover it." I nod, agreeing as a voice over the speakers tell us that we have fifteen minutes left.
I finish getting ready and get to my place.

"She's a fighter." The doctor said. It repeated in my mind over and over again. The poor girl had to go home herself from the hospital. They didn't even tell me anything. I guess that she had a cab. Someone else answers the door."Who are you?" A tall man in his twenties says. The man that was at the theater one day.
"I'm Lin. I work with Kelsey."
"I knew it, the whore." He pushes past me and I rush in, closing the door behind me. Does he think she's a prostitute or something?
"Kelsey?" I look over to see her on the floor, knees pulled up to her, crying. I help her up and bring her back to bed where she falls asleep, immediately.

"Did you get sick?" Pippa says, rushing outside my door. I shake my head."I choked on my water."
"How?"
"I honestly don't know." I say, putting my bottle back down.
"How's Kelsey?"
"Her fevers down. She'll back back by the end if the week."
"Lin." She says, seriously.
"We all get sick."
"I'm concerned, though."
"Because you're a cinnamon roll."
"What?" She shakes off whatever I just said and walks away. I perform and go home. Then I spend the morning with Seb before dropping him off and going by Kelsey's. She answers the door. She where's leggings and a Hamilton sweater that looks huge in her.
"Feeling any better?"
"Much." I smile.
"Good. Can I come in."
"You sure you want to?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine." She lets me in and closes the door.
"What have you been doing?"
"Cleaning up." She picks up the bottle of cleaning supplies and puts it back near the sink. "How's the show going?"
"Pretty good. Tommy says to get better soon. We want you back." She laughs.
"I highly doubt he said that."
"But he did. You do look a better. Not healthy but more so."
"I'm not nauseas anymore. It's just a headache and I'm a little weak. But I'll be better really soon."
"Good."
"And I'll pay you back."
"No!" I say right away. "I don't want to hear anything about it. Not a peep."
"But-"
"And before you try, you're job depends on it. You say nothing about it and don't try. If you do, I will run."
"Thank you, Lin."
"No problem."
"But get out before you get sick." I laugh. "Half of the building was sick and half of it is. Trust me, you don't want to be here."
"Okay, I'm going. Text me if you need anything."
"Thanks again. You're really saving my ass right now." She says, still in a sympathetic way. I know that she is old enough to take care of herself, but she still looks like a little girl to me. Her parents here to help her and I know that she has PTSD. I just want to help her. She's the baby of the cast, even if she's actually pretty mature. We just want to protect her.
