As I reach central park the sun was just rising over the tops of the trees, the park was empty all apart from me and two other runners. The two runners were far in the distant so I doubted I would need to pass by them. I continue running along the path taking in the scenery, central park was at its most beautiful during this time. I look ahead again and see the taller of the two men wasn't there anymore, he must have gotten tired and gone home. as I continue on my path I hear the fast footsteps approaching me from behind, suddenly a large man comes racing past me "on your left" he calls as he flies past. I raise my eyebrows in surprise, geez that guy is fast, I watch as he approaches the other man playfully hitting him on the shoulder as he passes. The first man raises his hands in disbelief and annoyance as he tries to catch up to his friend. Later on in the morning the fast man had passed me so many times I had lost count, as I ran along a path I noticed a large flock of birds that refused to move from the right of the path so I had to quickly move to the left. Just as I do so I feel something crash into me from behind, I put my arms out to catch myself but I feel myself fall not onto the ground but onto someone. "are you okay?" the man asks, I turn to look at him and realise how close our faces were. I struggle to form words as I push myself off of him "I am so sorry" I mutter cheeks flushing red, "no it's my fault I ran into you" he says brushing off some of the gravel. I then notice a large graze on his arm "oh my god you're hurt!" I say taking a better look at it, he glances down at his arm only just noticing it "oh it's nothing I heal pretty quick" he says with a side smirk. I look up at him properly and notice his gorgeous bright blue eyes that just seem to twinkle in the sunlight, "uh okay, that's good, I'm (Y/N) by the way" I say holding out my hand. "Steve rogers" he smiles shaking my hand with a friendly squeeze, "I recognise that name somewhere, have we met before?" I ask trying to work out where I knew him from. "no, I think I would remember if I did, you probably recognise my team mates though" he says rubbing the back of his neck, "team mates?" I ask slightly confused, "the avengers" he explains. My eyes widen in realisation as to who he was, I was currently talking to the captain America, "yeah I get that a lot" he chuckles at me realisation. "haha yeah sorry, guess you cant go a lot of places without being recognised" I chuckle awkwardly "surprisingly so, hey er look I feel real bad about bumping into you and knocking you down is there anything I could do to repay you?" he asks with a genuine smile. "uh how about just a coffee? We can talk a little bit longer then" I suggest hopefully, he smiles back down at me "sounds great I know this great little place" he smiles pointing in the direction of the shop "sounds amazing, what about your friend though?" I ask suddenly remembering his running partner. "oh Sam, yeah he went back a while ago so we don't have to worry about him" he smiles as we continue walking out of the park.
We were just approaching the door of the coffee shop when Steve's phone goes on in his pocket, "sorry excuse me" he apologies pulling it out to take a quick look. I see his smile faulted slightly, sighing as he put his phone away "I'm really sorry but I've been called in for an emergency meeting" he explains looking down at me apologetically. I nod in understanding "that's okay we can do this another time right? Look uh here, sorry can I borrow that pen?" I say asking a waitress that passed us, "here is my number when you're next free give me a call and we can arrange something" I smile writing my number down on his hand. He smile back at me "that sounds amazing, um where abouts do you live because I can walk you back home if you would like?" he suggests, "sounds lovely, it's about a 20 minute walk from here" I smile as we walk back towards my house. "so I bet your childhood was a lot more fun than mine" I say trying to start a conversation up, he looks at me slightly confused "what makes you say that?" he asks, "well you didn't have all this technology you guys went out and played used your imagination, I mean I did too but I guess it wasn't the same" I say thinking back to when I was a child playing in the backyard of the family home. "uh yeah, I was in and out of hospital though because of the amount of illnesses I had but I had my friend Bucky with me all the time" he tells me smiling to himself in reminiscent thought "yeah I heard about you and Bucky, I'm glad you have him back, it's terrible what happened to him, it wasn't his fault" I say remembering all the bad press that surrounded him. Steve looks at me almost in admiration "yeah, I'm glad to have him back too" he smiles. We continue walking until I reach the street where I lived, I lived in a converted house in one of the quieter neighbourhoods of new York. I was on the bottom floor and it was only a 2 bedroom as we really kinda small but it was good enough for me, "this is me" I smile as we pause outside my door "it looks nice" Steve says looking up at the house "yeah only about 4 of us live here, each floor being its own little house in a way, thanks for walking me back, you won't be late for your meeting will you?" I ask pulling my key from my pocket. "no it's fine, I can just grab a cab, but I'll call you soon and we'll set up that coffee date" he smiles, I smile back to especially at the word date "sounds great, thanks again, I'll see you soon bye Steve" I smile walking up the steps to the door. "bye (Y/N)" he replies waving as I open the door.
