A/N: Happy belated birthday to Steve Rogers!!!! i did try to post this yesterday but i bascially did a 14 hour shift and fell straight asleep when i got home... but better late than never!!

I was sat in the tower's kitchen trying to have a quiet morning before it was inevitable over, "morning doll" Steve says walking in kissing the top of my head as he went past. "morning how was your run?" I ask him, "good quieter without Sam" he says getting a bottle of water out of the fridge. "speaking of quieter I would eat something quick before the rest of the team get up" I tell him, "ah cap just the man I was looking for" tony says walking in "too late" I mutter taking a sip of my drink. "what do you want tony?" Steve sighs knowing it was not going to be good, "just your opinion on something" tony says as he makes himself a coffee. "okay what is it?" Steve asks, "well I recently updated the tower so that the windows light up which can then be used to show any design that I want on the outside" tony explains, "okay but where does my opinion come into this?" Steve asks. "well I was thinking on your birthday since it is the 4th of july the most patriotic day of the year I could in celebration of both event I would depending on what you want project either a picture of you or the American flag" tony says proudly, I raise a brow at tony as even that seemed over the top for him. "so which one do you want, an even bigger version of you or the flag" tony asks, "neither tony" Steve sighs, tony looks over at me disappointed "(Y/N) make your boyfriend agree to it" he whine. "nope" I say making him drop his shoulders in disappointment "come on cap it will be cool, it will top the party I threw for you last year and that was awesome right" tony says hopefully. "sorry tony but no I don't really want to celebrate it that much this year" Steve explains, "but why not you're gonna be 99 it's the last year in double digits" tony offers. "I just don't okay tony I'm sorry" Steve says, "okay fine whatever" tony sighs walking out of the kitchen. Steve makes himself some breakfast "so you don't want any celebrations at all" I ask him as he sits down "well its hard to explain, of course it being recognised as your birthday would be nice but with stark he just goes to over the top for me and even if I told him to dial it down it still would be a starkified party, so its just easier to say no to it so I can do what I want with the day" he explains "like for example spending it with you" he says wrapping an arm around me. "good because I've already brought your present and I don't really want to have to return it" I laugh, "see now that part I can't wait for" he smiles.

It was later on in the day and I was walking back to my room from the gym, passing the labs as I went. "ah (Y/N) I was just looking for you" tony says as I pass by, "tony no" I say as I keep on walking, "no (Y/N) its really important" he says urgently. "okay what did you set on fire" I ask him turning round, "nothing, I just" he says "what did you break?" I interrupt. "nothing I haven't.." he says, "okay what did you create or plan to create that Steve will not be happy about" I ask him. "nothing and Ultron wasn't my entire fault, Bruce helped" tony reasons, "Ultron still happened though" I state "so what do you want?" I ask. "why won't cap let me throw a party?" tony asks, "because he doesn't want one, and you always go over the top on them" I tell him, "but he's been fine with them before" tony says "he's always been like good party tony etc" he adds. "just don't throw him a party okay" I sigh walking away, as I got closer to my room I passed Bucky's "hey (Y/N) you okay you look wound up" he asks. "tony was just pestering me about why Steve won't let him throw a party for his birthday" I explain, "yeah he's never seemed to be into the whole birthday celebrations thing especially after he became captain America" Bucky sighs. "wait what? What do you mean?" I ask confused, "well after he became captain America he seemed less and less excited about his birthday, I thought it was just because we were at war but he still doesn't seem into it" Bucky says. "okay we need to talk about this because something doesn't seem right" I say, " my room?" Bucky says pointing behind him, "your room" I agree walking in with him. "okay so describe to me the type of birthday Steve would have before the war" I say once the door was shut, "uh well his mom when she was still around would take me and him out for a meal if she could afford it, and then we would have cake and open present and then sometimes go watch the fireworks" Bucky recalls. "and then during the war?" I ask, "uh well we would all go to the bar despite the war being on there would still be a lot of red white and blue, sing about the star spangled man with a plan as a joke" Bucky says. "so kinda similar to now except with tony its much large and much more over the top patriotic, non-stop captain America stuff" I sigh realising what the problem was, "yeah tony does go over the top with his parties" Bucky mutters. "I get it now" I say looking over at Bucky "what is it?" Bucky asks. "well captain America is a symbol of America and patriotisms the things we celebrate of the 4th of july" I start, "yeah" Bucky says not quite getting my point, "well every time we, well specifically tony, celebrate his birthday we focus more on making it a captain America party not a Steve rogers party" I explain "even though Steve is captain America, he is still Steve rogers the guy that just happens to have his birthday on the 4th of july". Bucky nods his head in understanding "how do we sort this?" he says, "well lets throw a party, but us two will organise it, it will be small just people he's friends with, kinda like the after party part of a stark party, we could theme it to be like the forties we have food, cake, music he likes, and then all go out onto the balcony for fireworks" I suggest. Bucky smiles "yeah sounds like he would like that" he says, "yeah and the only thing I'll let tony do is the fireworks but the planning will be under my supervision" I explain. "good, so lets get planning we only have a week" Bucky says.
