Endgame Part 4

(Y/N) pov

I woke gasping for air as if I'd been underwater for hours. My mind was screaming and I clung to myself trying to make sense of what was going on. I didn't dare open my eyes, but all I could see and hear was screaming. "(Y/N)" I hear someone say grabbing my shoulder and shaking it slightly, "no please stop" I beg tears streaming down my face. I wanted it to stop, I wanted steve. "(Y/N) its bucky, open your eyes please" I hear bucky say gripping my shoulder tightly, I feel another hand grab my own and my breathing begins to slow. "its okay, come on" bucky says calmly, I try to steady my breathing and I slowly open my eyes, I see bucky kneeling beside me and I instantly move to hug him "oh my god you're real, its real" I mutter. He rubs my back soothingly "hey its okay, do you know where steve is?" he asks me, I shake my head "no the last thing I saw before... was him holding me and then.." I say breaking down as the memories of what I'd seen came flooding back. "guys what's going on" Sam says running over to us, "I don't know, I just remember falling to the ground and then waking up again" bucky tells him. "where is everyone, like half of everyone is gone" Sam says looking around, "he did it" I mutter "thanos did it" the two of them look at me shocked. "how what?" Sam asks confused "you were one of the first to go, before we all realised what was going on, I was one of the last" I explain. We then hear horns being blown and people running over to us, we look up to see Okoye "oh my god you're back" she mutters looking at all of us. "Okoye" t'challa shouts running over to us "my king" she cries hugging him tightly "where's the fight" he asks. Okoye then tells us what happened, how we'd been gone for 5 years. I sat there my legs pulled up to my chest hugging them tightly, head buried so they wouldn't see my tears. 5 years. 5 years we'd been gone. It had only felt like 5 minutes to me, but they were the worst 5 minutes of my entire life. From what everyone was saying, it felt like they'd fallen asleep and woken up, but it was a totally different story to me. for me I was in an empty void, I could see shadow and fuzzy figures of people, never clear enough to make out who they were. I could hear people shouting and crying out for loved ones, I heard voices I recognised like peter calling out for tony, and voices I didn't know. God I wanted steve right now. bucky walks back over to me and put a hand on my shoulder "(Y/N) its okay, we're gonna go straight to them" he tells me, I look up wiping away the tears "thanks buck" I cry. We were then interrupted by a portal appearing, we all grab our weapons ready for a fight. A man walks through with peter beside him "oh my god peter" I say dropping my gun and running over and hugging him tightly "whoa, hey (Y/N), good to see you" he says. "who are you" bucky asks the other man, "I'm doctor strange, and we need to go help the avengers" strange tells us, I look over at him worriedly "what do you mean, are they okay?" I ask him. "if I'm correct they're fighting thanos as we speak, and they need all the help they can get, I've already been gathering allies ready to move in, do we have your support" he asks turning to face Okoye and t'challa. "of course, we're ready to fight" t'challa tells him, "good I'll summon portals when you're ready" strange tells us, "wait hold up can I ask a favour" Sam asks rushing forward "when you do that can you make the first one appear on steve's left" he asks. strange furrows his brows in confusion, and I could help but chuckle slightly "its an inside joke, steve will get it" I tell him. Strange nods his head "okay sure" he say still confused. A little while later we were ready, a portals appeared and we stepped through. My breath caught in my throat as I saw the wasteland that was once the compound, I see the vast army in front of us. I then see steve, he had his back to me. I walk over to him my feet stumbling slightly and put a hand on his shoulder, he turns around and I see the relief wash over him. He had tears in his eyes and I could tell exactly what he was trying to say, I smile up at him tears in my eyes as I cup his cheek "lets go get this bastard" I tell him.

The chaos ensued, the good chaos though, the chaos that came from an army ruthlessly taking out enemy after enemy. Me and steve fought back to back, "I've missed you so much" steve says kicking away an alien, "I missed you too" I laugh throwing an alien over my shoulder, steve smashing it into the ground with thor's hammer. "see you finally let the cat out of the bag" I say nodding to the hammer in his head "thought it was worth a shot" he smirks. As we fight we hear Clint over the comms "cap what do you want me to do with this thing?" he yells, hitting an alien with his shield pinning it to the side so I could shoot it "get it as far away from here" steve yells. Bruce appears, except it wasn't Bruce it was the hulk, but it was Bruce's voice "no we need to get them back where they came from" Bruce says. I point over at Bruce confused "I'll explain later" steve tells me, "there's no way to get them back, thanos destroyed the quantum tunnel" tony explains as he flies overhead shooting down aliens. "hold on!" Scott yells "that wasn't our only time machine" he says, "time machine?" I ask confused, "I've got a lot of explaining later" steve says "yeah you do" I mutter. We then hear a car horn playing la cucaracha, steve looks around in the direction of the horn "anyone see an ugly brown van out there?" he asks over the comms, "yes! But you're not gonna like where its park" someone says as they fly overhead on a Pegasus, if my head didn't already hurt, it did now. "Scott how long you need to get that thing working?" tony asks, "uh maybe ten minutes" Scott tells us. "get it started we'll get the stones to you" steve tells them, "we're on it cap" another female voice says, I had a lot of introductions to do after this. We continues to fight keeping thanos's army distracted as the gauntlet got passed from clint to t'challa to peter. I see wanda taking on thanos shrouding him in red energy. Suddenly thanos' ship opens fire, steve runs over and holds whats left of his shield above the two of us. "help somebody help!" we hear peter shout, steve glances over "hey queens heads up!" he says before throwing the hammer towards peter who grabs hold of it. I see him then get blasted out of the sky, the blasts become more and more frequent and we begin to be pinned down. Steve holds me close "I'm not letting you go again, don't worry" he mutters, suddenly it goes quiet and the blasts stop. "whats happening" I mutter we look up at the ship and see them firing up instead. I see what looks like a comet flying towards the ship, straight through it before flying back up again taking more of the ship out. "what is that?" I mutter, "its carol" steve says as we look up at the carnage. "danvers we need an assist here" steve says looking up at carol, "I'm gonna go help" I tell him. He grabs my arm before I get to run off "be safe, I need you to come back okay" he tells me, I nod before stepping closer and pressing a quick kiss to his lips "I'm never leaving ever again, you stay safe too okay" I tell him, he nods his head and lets me go. Once I get to peter I see him bloodied and bruised passing the gauntlet to carol "I don't know how you're gonna get it through all of that" he says nodding to the advancing army. I see all the other women converging on this point, many of which I didn't know "don't worry" wanda says, "she's got help" Okoye finishes lifting her spear. I smile to myself and glance around at all of us, but I notice nat wasn't here. In fact I hadn't seen her at all, I push down a wave of emotion hoping that it was just because she was busy fighting aliens elsewhere on the battlefield and not what I thought it was. We fight creating a path for carol to go through. Just as she approached the time machine though thanos threw his sword into it causing it to explode throwing all of us backwards. I groan in pain as I see thor, tony and steve fighting thanos trying to stop him from getting the gauntlet. I see thanos throw steve to the ground punching him in the face knocking him out "steve!" I shout running over to him, I kneel down beside him shaking his shoulders. He groans slightly and his eyes flutter open, I glance over to see thanos had the gauntlet on, and had just managed to push carol away. "oh god" I mutter, realising there wasn't anything we could do now. steve slowly sat up and saw what I saw, we saw tony making a grab for the gauntlet but thanos chucks him aside. Me and steve hold each other tightly as thanos snaps his fingers, but nothing happens. Steve looks up at me confused and shocked that we were still here. We look over towards thanos and see why. The stones were gone, tony had them. "and I am iron man" tony says slowly, "tony" steve mutters as he snaps his fingers. There was a flash of light and the battlefield went silent, me and steve stood still holding each other as we watched thanos and his army crumble away to dust. I look over to see tony "steve" I gasp, we watch as Rhodey, peter and pepper talk to tony. "you can rest now" pepper tells tony, steve pulls me close and hugs me tightly as tony takes his last breath.
