Opposite sides

"(Y/N) we need to talk about this" Steve demanded as he followed me into our shared bedroom, "not now Steve please" I say heading straight into the bathroom to get ready for bed. "when are we going to talk about it then?" Steve asks, I could tell he was stood on the other side of the closed door, "in the morning when we can both sleep on what happened today" I tell him as I continue to get ready for bed. "(Y/N) my descision isn't going to change about this" Steve states, I open the door and find him exactly where I thought he was "well I haven't decided yet Steve so please just let me sleep on it, there are valid points on both side" I tell him as I push past him to get into bed. "(Y/N) come on you're my girlfriend how could you consider siding with Tony!" Steve exclaims, I pause in my tracks "Steve don't do that, I have the freedom to pick whatever side I want, and right now I haven't, we have more important things to think about right now" I tell him as I turn round to face him. "like what?" he sighs in annoyance, "like Peggy" I say, I see his stance faulter, he hadn't told me but I knew what that text was earlier. "Steve I'll come with you to the funeral if you want" I say, he nods his head "of course I do" he says quietly the anger and annoyance leaving his body. "okay now come here" I say holding my arms out to him, he doesn't says anything and just walks over accepting the hug "I know you didn't expect it to be so soon, but she's in a much better place now" I say as he buried his head in the crook of my neck. "I know I just- just wanted more time thats all" he says his voice breaking slightly, "of course just be grateful for the time you did have with her" I tell him. He pulls out of the hug slightly so that I could see his face, his eyes were red from the tears he was trying to hold in "thank you so much doll, don't know where I would be without you" he says. I reach up to cup his cheek rubbing away a stray tear with my thumb "its nothing sweetie, I'm always here for you okay" I tell him, he nods his head before leaning down and kissing me gently. "come on lets go to bed its been a long day" I say, Steve nods in agreement "yeah I'll be right out" he says with a slight smile before heading into the bathroom. I climb into bed lying on my side waiting for Steve to join me, a few minutes later I felt the bed sink and his large arms wrap around my waist pulling me closer to him. I turn round in his arms to face him leaning in to kiss him again before snuggling up into his chest "I love you" I say already beginning to feel sleeping in his warm embrace, "I love you more" Steve mutters as he kisses the top of my head, "impossible" I mutter just before falling asleep. It was the next day and I was stood in the labs talking to Tony, "has Steve changed his mind about signing?" Tony asks leaning up against one of the work benches. "no and he's not going to, you know what he's like when he sets his mind on something" I sigh picking up a random part and fiddling with it, "what about you? Have you made your mind up" Tony asks. I sigh putting down the part looking down at the floor "I don't know Tony, I'm still on the fence" I tell him, "well if it makes it any easier, this wont be forever, its just PR we can adjust it so it works better for us" Tony tells me. "do you actually think this will work Tony? If they proposed this even if we had saved every single life, would you still sign it?" I ask looking over to him, "if it ensured that no lives were lost then yeah I would" Tony says and I could tell he was telling the truth too. "okay I'll sign but that doesn't mean Steve will too okay" I sigh, Tony nods his head "yeah I get that, come on its in the conference room" he says as we walk out of the lab. Just as I was signing the accords was when Steve walked past and saw what I was doing "(Y/N) what are you doing?" he asks, "I'm signing the accords" I tell him putting the pen down. "but you said you weren't going to sign, I thought you would side with me" Steve says glaring over at Tony. "no I said I would sleep on it then decide and I have, and im sorry its not what you wanted" I tell him trying to stay calm, "how could you do this! You're going to split us up" Steve says his voice barely below shouting. "I'm doing this to keep us all together, especially us!" I shout back the calm completely gone at his accusation, Steve just shook his head storming out of the room.
