Mayn II

☆☆☆

Maybe one day when love knocked on her door, she would be ready to welcome it in and appreciate it more.

And she did. She welcomed it in, appreciated it more and had never been this happy in a relationship.

Mayn was asked about how she ended up in a relationship with this new young man.

This lad came to her to ask for relationship advice because apparently he was going through a breakup and it was killing him. He was inspired by how strong she was and how she moved on from her bad past relationship.

Little did she know it was going to change everything.

One thing led to another and they started talking in person instead of on the phone. When talking, they clicked pretty well but Mayn was oblivious to it. She didn't realize it at first.

However, this lad realized he was falling for her way sooner than she did. Somehow it ended up that way. The conversations had brought them closer. Yet Mayn was too busy thinking of ways to fix things regarding her past.

But after a while, she realized that she slept better. She smiled wider with him around. His presence mattered more to her than she cared to admit. So she stopped dwelling in the past.

This lad was cheeky and so lovable in her eyes. He was the gentleman every girl would want. He was a real gentleman. Anyone with eyes could see that.

But when Mayn's ex boyfriend found out, it turned out bad. Really bad. He felt betrayed by his own best friend. Nope, this lad was not the 'Chemistry pick up lines' boy. This was another best friend.

Feeling betrayed, his ex boyfriend tried to keep brainwashing her into thinking that the lad was a bad person. He even said, "If he's a good friend, why would he go for someone who he knows his best friend is in love with?"

He fed her with lies about the lad and sad stories that Mayn felt really, really bad. She realized that she was about to put those four years of them together down the drain just like that.

It was also because she had been fighting for that long-term relationship for so long that it was hard for her to let go of it. She was so attached.

And probably stupid.

The lad did nothing wrong but she left him. Which she regretted later on.

She didn't know her ex boyfriend had been lying to her face about the lad. She couldn't have known any better because she trusted a boy who never once lied to him before. How could she have known that he would be that desperate to even start making up fake stories?

He promised to start appreciating her and treat her better. She trusted him wholeheartedly. She saw a way to fix things between them and she thought that was enough. She thought wrong.

Mayn knew that she loved him but at that point, she was confused. Was she with him because he was a constant familiarity in her life or did she really want this relationship?

When things got shaky, her mind wandered back to the lad. She kept thinking about him. The more she thought of him, the more she realized that the lad truly made her happy and she never even once doubted his feelings for her.

Yet with her ex boyfriend, it was always full of doubts and insecurities. It was unstable. It was uncertain. She wasn't happy. She couldn't be happy when she was constantly worried about whether the ship would still sail or face the tragedy of Titanic.

After the big examination, her ex boyfriend igmored her for no reason. She was so devastated. Before the examination, she had to travel home alone from school every day, for him, just because he couldn't stand it if the lad helped her with transportation.

She really wanted to fix what was left so she did everything she could, even if that meant walking under the hot sun for two weeks straight. She didn't complain.

But when he was done chasing after her, he went back to the cold him who didn't reply her texts and left her on read.

Mayn for mad at herself for falling for his words and for letting herself be walked over for the millionth time. She confronted him a few weeks later. She told him she just wanted to be happy.

She knew where to find happiness but she didn't want to break his heart by telling that to his face. So she kept it to herself.

At this point, she didn't even know if she could fix things between her and the lad. She didn't know if he would forgive her for leaving him just like that. But she didn't care because that wasn't the point.

She was more focused on wanting to get out of that toxic relationship. So she did. She left.

And she left for good.

A few days later, Mayn started talking to the lad again and never once did he bring up why she left. He was just grateful that she was there with him and that was all that mattered.

That was when she knew that the lad genuinely loved her. He overlooked her faults because he just wanted to make her happy. He wanted to give her his all. He didn't even expect it to be reciprocated but he did have hopes.

And how could Mayn not love him? She was never treated like that before. Ever. It was the best feeling to know that even when you'd blundered, you were still perfect in someone's eyes.

She chose to be with the lad and she had never been so sure.
