How to Not Fall for Someone?

Sitting there on the ground, Athena's eyes glistened with tears as she thought of the possibilty of herself being trapped in another familiar situation. She could've sworn she wouldn't ever want to go through that again. Yet here she was contemplating her life.
She pulled her hair with both hands in frustration. Slowly, one by one her tears fell on the ground.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
She looked up at the sound of his voice. Hayden.
Her lips trembled and quickly she bit down on her bottom lip as she blinked up at him.
Hayden crouched to her level and looked at her in concern.
"Are you okay?"
Athena was about to open her mouth when he cut her off.
"No, wait. Don't answer that. Of course you're not okay," he paused. "What's wrong?"
Her eyes glistened again with tears as she looked into his eyes. He looked so worried, it made her want to cry even more.
"Come here." Hayden gently pulled Athena closer to him and wrapped his arm around her body, his hand stroking her hair slowly.
"Shh, it's alright. I'm here. I'm here, Athena," Hayden whispers into her hair, trying to calm a crying Athena.
Athena pulled away a bit and looked up into his eyes. She stared at him for a few long seconds. Her lips trembled a bit more before she could manage to let her words out.
"H-How to not fall for someone?"
