The 6am lecture

Phil's POV

I slowly make my way up to the lecture room where I will be having my first lecture of the day: English. It's currently five to six in the morning and to say I am tired would be an extreme understatement.

Who in their right mind decides to conduct a lecture at seven in the morning?

Mr Raymond has decided that today would be a good day to get up early to see how our brains work at six am. I'm not even sure why he wants to do that myself, so don't ask me why.

I push the double doors of the room open to reveal an already full lecture room. What time did all these people get here? I honestly don't know how some of them look so interested and excited; I feel completely done in. I just want to go home, lay in my bed and go to sleep. Sleep sounds so good right now to be honest.

Laughter from the right causes me to jump back. I need sleep and desperately; I don't know how I'm going to survive the day without falling asleep in one of my lectures, which is something I can't afford to do seeing as exams are in the next two months. Maybe another cup of coffee will help - on top of the three that I've already had - to keep me awake long enough till I get to break and I can have another. I'm so healthy.

I take a seat at the back of the room and I take in a deep breath, as my eyes begin to close. I've got five minutes till he comes in, so that's five minutes to give my brain a rest seeing as I was up at five o'clock to get ready for this bloody lecture.

However, I'm abruptly awoken a minute later by someones bag swinging into my arm. I snap open my eyes and glare at the culprit who awoke me from my minute snooze, but my glare softens once I see that the culprit is a cute guy with a deep brown eyes.

"I'm so sorry, were you sleeping?" he raises his eyebrows. "I didn't mean to whack you but I literally had to run and I'm so tired."

"I-it's o-okay," I stutter awkwardly. Why must I get so flustered around cute guys?

He pulls out a flask of and places it on the desk in front of us; the odour of coffee fills my nostrils and I instantly crave more. However, he then pulls out a monster energy can and pops the cap of the sparkling drink open before pouring it into the flask. He brings the flask to his slightly chapped lips and takes a few huge gulps; he glances at me from the side and laughs sadly like he's struggling to keep it together.

"I'm going to die."

"I feel you," I laugh lightly in reply. "I'm Phil. Phil Lester and I need another coffee."

"Dan Howell," he smiles. "And here have some."

He passes me the awful concoction and I inwardly gag at the smell.

"I'm good thanks."

"You sure, it actually helps quite a lot," he smirks. "It'll defiantly give you a boost."

"I'm sure," I smile. "I've already had three cups of coffee."

He raises his eyebrows, as he takes another swig of his energy drink and licks his lips - tormenting me.

"That's awful for your health," he states.

I crook an eyebrow playfully, "Says the guy drinking an energy drink mixed with a coffee."

"Fair enough," he laughs. "Where is this guy? I ran here for this and he's not even here yet!"

I shrug wondering that myself; it's currently five past six and Mr Raymond wanted to start dead on six o'clock. He was usually extremely precise with his timings and never missed a lecture, but maybe he was regretting having to get up at five am himself.

"You look shattered, mate," Dan chuckles drawing me out of my day dream state. "Honestly, I could put my shopping in those bags."

I laugh loudly and cover my mouth subconsciously, "I haven't had much sleep."

"I can tell," he smiles. "Why haven't you? Not counting last night obviously."

"Revising I guess," I shrug, as in all honesty I'm not too sure why I stay up to all hours of the morning to revise. It's stupid and I know it is, but I want to pass my courses, otherwise this would have all been for nothing.

"Not out partying then?" he smirks and laughs lightly when I shake my head ferociously. "Same, mate. I can't be bothered to go to most of them if I'm being completely honest."

"Really?" I frown, as he seems like the outgoing type.

"Yeah, I'd rather stay in my room watching anime or listening to muse."

My eyes widen in excitement, "You like anime and muse!"

He smiles, "Yeah, you do I take it by your reaction?"

"Yep," I nod. "Love them both."

"Oh, well you'll have to come over and we'll revise together then," he winks.

I know I'm blushing, as I can feel the heat rising to my cheeks, but I've given up trying to hide it, as he most probably knows already. His eyes glisten when he glances over at me and he shakes his head with a small laugh, as he turns away and fiddles with his flask nervously. Is that a blush on his cheeks?

The huge doors to the room swing open and a lecturer from another subject announces, "Mr Raymond has gotten a cold, so he will not be able to do today's lecture, so get on with your day people!"

I can't believe that he's done this. How could he do this? I got out of the comfort of my bed to come to this lecture thinking that it was going to benefit me, but it's been a waste of time! Well maybe not a complete waste, as I got to meet Dan, but other than that it's been an awful morning.

Groans erupt from all around the room and I share an annoyed look with Dan, who huffs audibly.

"Coffee?" I ask hopefully.

"Coffee," he half smiles and nods.
