Dan awoke shakily, sitting upright from the bed he was laying upon and sweat had formed upon his brow from the previous events. To say he was confused would be an understatement, but he also felt whole once again. He remembered what had happened: the car crash, his mother laying out on the cold ground, the way his chest was collapsing inside of him and his life slowly fading away.

"Shit," Dan murmured, as he ran his hands over his face. "I'm actually dead."

"Sorry, Dan," Phil sighed from behind, as he also sat up from his position in the bed.

Dan sprung up from the mattress, his heart practically leaping from his chest, as he stuttered, "W-what the - Phil. What are you doing? Where am I?"

Phil stood from the bed too, "My house. I didn't want to take you back to the bed and breakfast."

Dan nodded warily, as his eyes scanned the seemingly normal room, full of bands and game posters, which shocked Dan, "You listen to people like muse?"

"Yeah," Phil half smiled. "Do - did you?"

Dan nodded again and spun on his heels to be faced with a huge tv and many consoles, which even Dan hadn't owned when alive. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Where did Phil get all of these from?

Then his eyes fell upon one specific game; a game he would play endlessly when alive.

"You have Mario kart," Dan smirked. "Does it work?"

Phil raised his eyebrows, "Does the pope pray?"

Dan laughed lightly and grabbed a remote from the desk in front of him. His fingers grasped the remote tightly, as he spun back around to face Phil with a devious smile playing upon his lips.

"Wanna play?"

Phil rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, as he rocked on his heels, "My father wanted me to run some errands."

Dan rolled his eyes, whilst passing Phil another remote, "Go on. I'll help you with the errands if worse comes to worse. You only live once, right."

"Is that supposed to be ironic?" Phil laughed before grabbing the remote from Dan's hand and switching on the console with a flick of his finger.

Dan's eyes widened, as the TV and Wii turned on without anyone touching them and his mouth gaped as he looked at Phil disbelievingly. His pitch raised, "What on earth?"

"We're not on earth anymore, Dan," Phil smirked.

After a couple of games, in which it was mainly Dan coming first and Phil following in a close second, both boys placed down their remotes. Dan sighed in content, whilst Phil sighed in despair at his failure even though he practically played everyday - alone.

"You're so good!" Phil exclaimed, standing from his crosslegged position on the floor and making his way over to his bed. "Like honestly, I'm a champion usually."

Dan laughed, "Well the champion didn't show up there, did he?"

"No," Phil pouted, whilst rolling his eyes. "You must be under some sort of spell."

"Oh yeah, a specific spell for Mario Kart," Dan chuckled. "Just admit it, Phil. You're crap."

Phil squinted his eyes at Dan and huffed, as he crossed his arms over his chest, resembling a young child.

"I used to play all the time with my mum," Dan's eyes widened, as he suddenly remembered. "Wait, my mum. What happened to her? Is she still alive? Is she here?"

Phil gulped nervously; he couldn't bare to tell Dan what had happened. He may try to leave - if that was even possible.

"Phil, I know you know what's happened to her," Dan stated, whilst standing from the floor. "Please, I want to know!"
