"Do I look alright?" Pj asked, whilst sorting out his fringe in the closest shop window.
"For the millionth time, you look great!" Phil laughed and dragged his friend by the arm towards the restaurant.
"What if he thinks I'm ugly?" Pj asked this time slightly more nervous, as they were extremely close to the restaurant now. "Or what if he hates me?"
Phil rolled his eyes and stopped once they had reached the restaurant. He turned around to face Pj and said, "Look, you've seen pictures of each other and you've been talking on that dating app for months now! You're a great guy Peej, he's going to love you!"
"Thanks, Phil!" Pj smiled and took a deep breath. "You don't have to stay, you know? I don't mind if you want to just go chill at home."
"And leave you with a potential axe murderer? I don't quite think so!" Phil laughed and tugged Pj inside the restaurant.
Pj sat at his booked table and Phil sat at one a few tables behind, so that he had a good vantage point of Pj and his date. Pj grew nervous as the minutes ticked by; he's been stood up he thought. He got out his phone and sent Phil a text.
Pj: He's stood me up!
Phil rolled his eyes; they'd only been there for ten minutes.
Phil: It's fine. I'm sure he'll be here soon.
Pj screwed his face up, but doubted Phil was right.
"Hi, you must be Pj?" a voice asked from beside him.
Pj looked up and stuttered, "Y-yes. It's so nice to meet you Chris!"
Phil smiled at how awkward Pj was being. Pj hardly ever got flustered, but as soon as he was close to someone hot he lost all sense of confidence and words.
The chair beside Phil screeched across the floor and a guy roughly his age sat down, but he was so fixated on Pj and Chris that he didn't even notice Phil.
Phil coughed awkwardly a couple times before finally grabbing the attention of the brown haired boy.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I didn't see you here!" he exclaimed before standing from the seat abruptly. "I'm so sorry!"
Phil smiled, "It's fine honestly. May I ask why you're staring at those two guys over there? Are you a spy?"
The guy laughed, "No, I'm not that interesting I'm afraid. That's my best mate. I'm here to make sure his date isn't a creep."
"I'm doing the same!" Phil said in shock. "Pj is my mate."
"No way!" the guy gaped. "I'm Dan by the way."
"I'm Phil," Phil smiled. "Do you want to join me for the rest of their date, I'll probably get bored just here on my own."
"Yeah that sounds good," Dan smiled back and sat back down in the seat. "So how long have you known Pj?"
"Basically all my life, what about you with Chris?" Phil asked whilst scanning the menu.
Dan looked up in thought and said, "Roughly from when we were twelve. He sat beside me in a class and I haven't been able to shake him since."
Phil laughed and took a sip from his drink: an ice cold coke. Dan seemed pretty nice he thought, so Chris must be too. He glanced over at Pj, who had the widest grin on his face and a gleam in his eye.
"You've got amazing eyes!" Dan commented but went ruby red instantly. Had he really just said that out loud? He's only known the guy five minutes!
Phil bit his lip and smiled, "Thank you, so do you."
Dan face palmed and laughed, "Sorry, that was so weird. It's just that they're like three colours at once and I've never seen that before."
"No ones ever complimented me on my eyes before," Phil said sheepishly.
Dan gaped, "Really? Not even your boyfriend or er girlfriend?"
"I don't have one," Phil sighed and looked down at his menu again. He must have read over it five times now, but still wasn't taking any of it in.
"Oh well that surprises me," Dan said and flicked through his menu.
Phil frowned, "Why?"
"I just thought someone so gorgeous would have someone," Dan replied calmly, as though this was the most normal situation ever.
"Well that means you have one then," Phil said just as calm. Two can play at this game he thought.
Dan felt his cheeks go red and said, "No. I don't have anyone. It's just me, myself and I."
"So what do you do for fun?" Phil asked, deciding he wanted to change the subject.
"Depends what type of fun you mean," Dan smirked and winked at Phil, making Phil go a deeper shade of red. "I normally just sit and watch anime to be honest or play video games but other times I just work."
"What do you do as a job?" Phil asked with a smile.
"I'm a photographer," Dan replied whilst still flicking through his menu. "What about you?"
"Woah that's cool, I'm an interior designer," Phil smiled. He couldn't help notice how gorgeous Dan was. Was this fate meeting this way?
The waiter finally came over and took their order; Phil opted for a classic burger with onion rings, whereas Dan decided on a bbq pizza. They spent the entire time chatting and laughing at each others anecdotes, whilst Chris and Pj sat having a similar night.
Towards the end it occurred to Phil that he had hardly been paying attention to Pj and was glad Pj was still fine when he looked over. Pj and Chris walked over to Dan and Phil and smiled knowingly.
"Having a nice date are we?" Chris asked whilst trying to resist a laugh. "Dan, I thought I was the one going on a date tonight!"
Dan laughed and his cheeks went a rosy colour, "You are the one on a date, Chris. I've just met someone really cool, who I would probably like to see again... on a proper date."
Phil choked on his water and widened his eyes, "Really?"
"Yeah," Dan smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. "If you want to that is?"
Pj squealed from beside Phil and began shaking Phil wildly. It had been a long time for Phil; his last relationship ended rough and so seeing Phil meet someone who seemed genuinely nice meant the world to Pj.
"Woah, Peej," Phil laughed. "Are we all set to go then?"
Everyone agreed and they walked out of the restaurant. Chris and Pj were hand in hand and practically skipped along the narrow path towards the tube station.
"Were you serious about seeing me again?" Phil asked Dan but kept his eyes in front of him. He was too nervous to look Dan in the eye.
"Yeah of course," Dan smiled. "Why wouldn't I want to see someone who is gorgeous, funny, smart and basically the entire package again?"
Phil admired Dan's confidence and wished he could be the same, because he wanted to say all of that too, but couldn't bring himself to. Instead he just looked up at Dan and smiled a smile that he would soon find out made Dan's heart swoon.
"Well I'd like to see you again too," Phil said and bit his lip.
"How about tomorrow for lunch and maybe it could go on all day?" Dan asked with a smirk.
Phil giggled, "I'd love that!"
"Sorry to break you love birds up, but the next tube is the last one of the night and I don't want to be stranded on the other side of London from my flat!" Pj laughed.
Phil waved at Dan as he and Pj stepped onto the tube and smiled when Dan winked. He had a feeling Dan was going to be good for him and the only thought on his mind at that moment in time was what on earth was he going to wear to their date the next day!
