The week flew by in a flash. The break was exactly what all of them needed. The life of an adult could really wear you out.
Alya kept them all updated on the new while they were gone. No akumas, total peace. Apparently Nathanael and Lila fell out and this is what surprised Marinette the most. He started talking with Chloe apparently.
The car ride was quiet, some old ACDC song playing in the background. Marinette knew they were nearing Paris when it began to pour, rain hammering the little 2017 Chevy Cruise Nino drove. Marinette watched the rain beads streak against her window. Her breath fogged up the glass.
The city came into view and in no time Nino was dropping Adrien and Marinette off at Adrien's penthouse. It was pouring and hard to see ten feet in front of you by the time the car pulled away, leaving the couple with their bags. Adrien turned his body to face Marinette and opened up a black umbrella.
"Here, take my umbrella while you wait for the uber." He said softly. Something about this was familiar.Marinette reached her hand out to grab the umbrella, her finger tapping Adrien's hand which was as warm to the touch. She flinched and quickly took the umbrella in her hand. She suddenly felt dizzy. Images flashed before her eyes, voices echoing in her head. Memories of her childhood, upbringing, elementary school, middle school and then her Highschool career. Meeting Adrien, the... the moment she fell in love with him. The moment he gave her a similar umbrella.
Thousands of other memories resurfaced. All of the rest of Highschool, moving to China, college, all the way up till that moment. Everything.
When she snapped back to reality, she was in Adrien's bedroom, Adrien sitting next to her with a worried expression.
"Marinette? Mari, can you hear me?!" He asked, his hand cupping her cheek. She blinked slowly and brought her hand up to her temples.
"W-what happened...?" She asked, exhaling out the mouth as she spoke."I-I handed you the umbrella- a-and then you passed out!" He exclaimed. "Marinette? Are you okay?!" He asked, tucking a wisp of raven black hair behind her ear. Marinette pushed herself up into a sitting position, waiting till the fuzziness left her vision and her head had stopped pounding.
"I'm just fine but... I remember now..." she looked up at him, in shock. Adrien's panic was replaced with confusion.
"What do you mean?"Marinette stood up on her knees, eye to eye with him. She cupped his cheeks with both of her hands.
"Adrien, I remember everything! My childhood, school, falling in love with you. I remember moving, I remember coming back and feeling myself fall for you again. I remember all of it!" She explained, eyes pooling with tears.
"A-and-... and im so sorry!" She squeaked, hugging him around the neck. Adrien was silent for a moment, but he hugged her back."Marinette... there is nothing to apologize for." He said gently. He felt her tighten her grip, shoulders shaking.
"B-but I forgot everything... I forgot everyone-" she was cut off by him letting her out of the hug and pulling back to look at her. He cupped her cheek and pressed his lips against her own. Her eyes widened in shock, but she melted almost immediately. Her eyes were closed when he pulled away a couple seconds later.
"Marinette, don't apologize." He said again. When she opened her eyes again, he was staring straight at her with full seriousness. She nodded, causing Adrien to let his hand fall back into his lap.
"You okay now?" He asked, smiling softly.
"Yea, I'm okay now... thank you." She whispered, sitting back down.~
Marinette was back home, standing in the shower. She watched the water stream from her fingers as she picked though her regained memories. She smiled as she thought about some of her favorites. Many of those consisted of fighting alongside Chat Noir, her partner. Come to think of it, most of her happiest memories were with Adrien.
