Hand in hand, Marinette and Adrien walked to the front desk of the hospital. Excitement bubbled up inside Marinette. Checking out of the hospital was the first thing on her mind at that moment. She wanted nothing more than to go home.
Home, spending time with family, with her loved ones... that all sounded pretty nice to her at the moment.
Paperwork signed, prescription for pain medication written down, and one "have a good day later", Adrien and Marinette were out of the hospital. The chill in the air told them that winter was upon them. But that also told them that the date was nearing. Adrien took his coat off and hung it over Marinette's shoulders.
"T-thanks..." she said between chattering teeth. Adrien already had a hoody on underneath so he would refuse if she tried to give it back to him.
They walked quickly back to the condo they now shared. Turning on the lights and the heat in the little two-floor condo satisfied Marinette more than she could explain. She alway took being able to come to a home with heat for granted. She learned her lesson.
Marinette hung the big winter coat up on the coat rack and then sprinted up the wooden stairs. She ran right into the bedroom she shared with Adrien, changed into flannel pajama bottoms and a large Metallica sweatshirt, and crawled under the covers.
"Comfy?" Adrien asked, amusement lacing his tone. Marinette poked her head out from under the thick comforter. He held a mug in each hand, filled with hot tea. Earl Grey, by the smell of it.
He handed her one of the mugs, which she gladly took. She cupped the mug with both hands, warming her palms. "You are amazing." She breathed, snuggling back down into place. She took a sip of the tea, closing her eyes. As the tea went down she felt it warming up her body.
She smiled. Adrien chuckled. He sat down next to her, nudging her shoulder.
"I know." He teased.~
Marinette pushed a large clothes rack into place, next to a table filled with sweaters. The night before she spent snuggled up next to Adrien, enjoying her tea while listening to the weatherman preach about the cold temperatures to come. Snow was even a possibility.
"That should do it!" Marinette announced. Their employees, newly hired, all cheered.
While preparing for the wedding, Marinette also took the liberty of scouting employees to help around. Only two people running the store wouldn't work. Especially when at least one person was needed for the tills, the other to take care of business paperwork, others to sew and a couple more to clean and tidy up the merchandise.
Nevertheless, with the time and effort put into it, Marinette managed to hire 6 starting staff, not including her and Adrien. With eight personnel working in all, she figured it would be a good way to start working towards success.
Adrien jogged down the stairs from the loft area, where sewing machines and the break room was.
"Hey, it looks great down here!" He was just as excited as everyone else was. The grand opening was the next day, after all."It does, but you know what opening this place means." Marinette turned serious. Her smile, downcast.
Adrien gave her a smirk, much to her confusion. Adrien pulled an envelope out from his pocket and handed it to her. "Already taken care of."
Still confused, Marinette broke the envelope seal open and scanned over the letter.
"You already quit?!" She exclaimed.
"Filed my letter of resignation this morning." He confirmed.
Marinette jumped up and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Relief washed through her. Yes, Gabriel was most likely behind bars, but there was still the rest of the company to face. Criticism from his co-workers must've been a pain.
