"You can't marry Marinette." Gabriel said. Adrien's mouth hung open.

"What do you mean?" He asked, voice shaking a little.

"I mean, you will not marry her because you are my son. Why would I allow some random girl whose name you can't remember. I have arranged something different for you." He stated.

Adrien's attention was brought to the door. None other than Lila Rossi walked in.

"We meet again, Mr. Agreste." Lila said sweetly.

Adrien's blood boiled.

"Lila being married into the company would mean great things for us. Her family-owned business in Italy and ours would be joined together as one-"

"Father, I've already proposed to Marinette." Adrien said sharply. Gabriel seemed to take in a deep breath. Lila looked up at Gabriel with a sharp glare.

"You told me-"

"I know what I told you." Gabriel quieted her harshly. But it worked. Lila went quiet fairly quickly. Gabriel turned back to Adrien.
"You keep pushing me further and further Adrien." He warned.

"I am a grown man and don't need you telling me what to do, Mr. Agreste." Adrien hissed, leaned towards his father with a sharp look. "This conversation is over." He ended the discussion then and there.

Gabriel stared at Adrien. He seemed to be thinking about something. But he obviously had no intention of saying it. He turned tail and left the room without another word. Lila, however still stood there.

"Adrien... I don't understand why you are acting this way. I think we could be really happy." She leaned against the other side of his desk, closer to him. Adrien moved away.

"Leave, Lila." He didn't care if he was being rude. He wanted his father's push for him to marry some girl he despised to be over.

Lila's eyes narrowed. "I won't allow you to reject me again, Adrien. In fact, I distinctly remember... you had a soft spot for Ladybug. You rejected me then and that bitch still hasn't paid." She hissed, and then turned around quickly to leave.

Adrien didn't even flinch when the door slammed shut. He sat back down slowly and groaned. Plagg poked his head out of Adrien's suit pocket.

"Lila is still as persistent at ever, I see." Plagg mused. Adrien sighed.
"Whatever, Plagg..." he definitely wasn't in the best of moods to deal with his tease of a kwami. Plagg chuckled.
"Ease up, kid. The calmer you are, the easier it is to deal with all your current tasks like oh, I don't know... planning for a wedding in less than a year." He threw his arms up in the air

Adrien rubbed his temples. Plagg was right, he had better things to worry about. Although... he couldn't deny that Lila calling his fiancé a bitch irritated him. Nevertheless, he got back to work.

Marinette looked up at the bedroom door as it opened up. Adrien walked through, a tired smile creeping onto his lips upon seeing Marinette. She was glad to see him as well. She spent the entirety of the day working, not that he hadn't.

"Welcome home!" She said happily, setting her laptop aside after quickly closing the tabs. She had been looking up wedding dresses. She couldn't allow him to see those yet. Not till the day of.

Adrien flopped down on the king sized bed next to Marinette.
"How are you, princess?" He asked, unbuttoning the top of his work-shirt. Marinette sighed.

"My eyes hurt. I've been staring at a screen all day." She muttered. Adrien chuckled.
"At least you didn't have to deal with pissy Lila today." He said under his breath.

"Hah- I think you win." Marinette smiled weakly. "Is everything okay?" She asked, a little concerned. She began wondering what might've happened.

Adrien thought for a moment. "Yea... my dad was just pushing the whole arranged marriage thing on me again." He picked his words carefully. He didn't want to upset her. Marinette pursed her lips.

"We'd better get the boutique up and running soon then." She fretted . Adrien nodded.

"Don't worry, princess. Everything will work out." Adrien kissed her forehead.

Marinette's weak smile of uncertainty was uncany. He knew she was worried, anxious and scared all that the same time. He felt the same way.

The only thing keeping him from giving up and taking a break is knowing in less than a year, all this hassle would be worth it. He just had to deal with it till then.
