Marinette felt sick. Her stomach churned and the smell of chemicals was still fresh in her nostrils. It made her feel even worse. The sound of clanking metal and grunting sounded far off in her drugged up mind.
Marinette's vision slowly cleared. She was still in the dirty hostage dungeon. She was staring at the gray concrete wall; but the sound of connecting metal and grunts of effort sounded behind her. Confused, Marinette slowly turned onto her other side to locate the sound of metal connecting metal.
Together, Fox and Chat Noir struggled in a fight against their kidnapper and Hawkmoth. Her mind racing, she attempted to sit up. Without the mask she was weak and helpless. The beating she had taken prevented her from being able to move freely.
Still woozy from the chemicals she reacted slowly when Fox was thrown next to her by their kidnapper. Marinette assumed it must've been an akumatized victim, trapped by the evil purple butterfly's spell. She almost pitied him. Almost.
Fox hardly noticed that Marinette was even awake. He got back up and continued to fight. She didn't mind. She had far more important things to worry about. Getting back her earrings.
Finding the little black studs, she knew, would be tricky. Hawkmoth could have the jewels on his body or hidden somewhere. Either way, she had to find them. Carefully, as though to not attract any attention to herself, she shuffled around the room, feeling the floor for the miraculous.
Fox tackled their enemy to the ground, pinning his arms to the concrete. Two little black earrings fell out of his suit pocket and landed an inch from her index finger. Marinette quickly snatched them up as both Fox and Chat Noir searched for what might be the villain's miraculous.
As Marinette put the earrings her mind began turning.
"I don't get why this book is so important Tikki!" Marinette whined. She had been concerned for Adrien since getting home. She had stolen Adrien's book that Tikki had been obsessive with since laying eyes on it earlier that day in the school library.
"Its information is invaluable." Tikki replied. The look she gave Marinette told the confused teenager that she should just trust her kwami. Marinette pursed her lips and opened up, about halfway through the book. She was taken aback by the picture displayed there.
"Ladybug?" She asked.
"I told you. This information is extremely important and if it falls into the wrong hands... it would be catastrophic." Tikki spoke fast and she never exactly looked up at Marinette.
"But what are these markings? I can't read any of this."
"I know someone who can. He has been looking for this book for a long time now, he needs it back." Tikki sounded frantic. She was talking quickly without taking breaths.
"Who do I take this too?" Marinette asked, flipping through the pages again. More superheroes, some of which she had never even heard of were displayed on the worn-out pages.
"The great guardian. Its time you met him." Tikki spoke calmly again. Marinette looked up at her kwami, still confused.
"Okay... just give me a second." Before leaving, Marinette wanted to look through the book a little more. She didn't know when she might see it again. Taking in as much information as possible might save her life one day.
Marinette flipped the page over and almost choked on the juice she was sipping. "Hawkmoth?! What is he doing in here?!" She exclaimed.
"The moth miraculous isn't meant to be used for evil purposes, just like the ladybug and cat miraculous," Tikki started to explain, "one day, however, the moth Miraculous went missing. Whoever had stolen it had only evil intentions. Nooroo, the moth kwami had no choice but to abide by his masters orders." Tikki sudden looked sad. Perhaps she missed her friends.
