Anyone's reaction who had seen Jin well up at the sight of paper and 5 sweets would be 'Why is he crying? Whats wrong with some harmless sweets?' But that wasn't the case. Id you were Namjoon or his parents you would know by now how many things Jin was hiding and how sensitive he was...How he didn't want to bring up or re-live his past.
Namjoon shut the box and hugged Jin, wiping away one of the tears that fell and getting some tissue to wipe away any others.
"No..." He whispered. "No more crying."
"They're...sweets. Who's Kim Geon-wu?" Their dad sad, looking inside the box.
"That is...was... my dads name."
"Is he the one who died?"
"HEY!" Their mum said loudly. "Be considerate."
"Mmmhmm." Jin nodded.
"But...why chocolate limes?" Jin looked at Namjoon who pulled Jin forward and got them comfy.
"Okay..." Namjoon said, starting to mess with Jin's hair.
"Before mum...passed away, she used to help with my anorexia. She would say 'have these lime sweets, they are really low in sugar' and i would have them but then there would be chocolate in the middle and she would smile and let me have another and another, which led me to not fully starving myself. Then when she left, dad wouldn't let me have them and now i just see them, it's a bit...overwhelming."
Jin got up and opened the box again, smiling. 5 sweets. He took them into his hand and walked around the room. He gave one to his mum, one to his dad, one to Namjoon and one to himself. He looked at the remaining on and sat on the floor, placing it in front of him and lowering his head.
"Thank you, mum." He then picked the sweet up and gave it to Namjoon. He heard the other two taking the wrappers off in the back. "For you, for everything you've done." Namjoon took the sweet and smiled. Their dad spoke up.
"Theres a shop round the corner which sells them if you want some." Jin turned and smiled and went out the door.
"I'll be back!"
While going to this shop Jin ran into some people.
"S-sorry!" He said. He began to run but one of them stopped him. Jin's face dropped and his eyes widened. Why? He thought. Why was it always him? The man threw Jin on a wall and Jin grunted. He smelt like ash. Ash and alcohol. He started hitting Jin but he couldn't feel it. He looked in Jin's wallet and smirked, taking all his money and leaving him.
Jin sat in silence for a minute and smiled. He didn't know why he smiled, maybe it was because it took him back to before his dad died. He stood up and made his way back to the house and everyone huddled round him in shock as he sat down.
"Jin, what happened? Who hurt you?" Namjoon said, leaning in front of Jin.
"Jin, honey! Let me get a ice pack." Jin let out a half laugh.
"It allllllways happens to me." Namjoon became confused.
"D-did you hit them back? Did you not-" Their mum came in and Jin shook his head, looking away from them both. "You didn't hit them back?"
"No..." Jin whispered. Their mum went to put the ice pack on his face but Jin used his hand to push it away.
"Why didn't you fight back?" Jin stayed silent. "JIN! WHY DIDN'T YOU FIGHT BACK?"
"Namjoon, calm down..." His mum said.
"YOU COULD HAVE GOT SO HURT! WHY DIDN'T YOU FIGHT BACK? I COULDN'T LIVE IF YOU GOT HURT! WHY WONT YOU LISTEN?" Namjoon turned Jin's face and slapped him across the cheek.
