Part 59: General

"I was hoping it would come to this,"

Sydney grinned the grin of a commander that has been on standby for too long.

"We have been easily defending ourselves for so long but we must push them back if we are to stop the onslaught happening through the other times and regions," Sydney stood straight and saluted me,

"Alexander, we are at your service."

Four of the men who were nearby her but were not guarding the gate room also saluted me with a 'Sir!' to add to the solid-faced look.

I was taken aback at the sudden shift in power, but I admired their devotion to the cause. To protect and serve the people.

I returned the salute and saw that Kepler and Deune were also saluting me. Although they found this whole scene funny they contained their joke within themselves to respect Sydney's decision. An entire battalion and the commander herself were submitting to the man they originally were to capture. Also, the man didn't look much older than Kate, his girlfriend.

"Sydney, you and your men have much experience and strength that we can use well. I will defer to you all for opinions and tactics to efficiently complete the mission," I said, reaching out to shake Sydney's hand.

I marked the time and place of the moment on my console...

[Year: 1990

Time: 1:11pm

Location: Concealed Gate Room, "Sydney's Tower", Sydney CBD, NSW, Australia]

...when I became a General.

Hello readers, I hope you have enjoyed the first book of Elevators Through Time.

I intended to make it one book, but who doesn't mind an action-scene ender?

Please feel free to comment about anything, including the cover and please read my other books.
