Georgia sat comfortably in bed, a book open on her lap. It had been a few days since Jet had climbed into bed with her and she kept hoping that he would do it again. A gentle knock sounded on the door.
'Come in.' Georgia said, putting the book down.
'How are you feeling?' Nathan said staring at the bandage.
Nathan had been in every day to check on her, keeping the bandage fresh and the wound healing. He carefully unwound the bandage from her neck, inspecting the thin red line still across her throat. Georgia's phone buzzed on the bedside table, grating off the wood. 'DAD' shinned across her phone. She had been avoiding his calls, unable to talk at all and she knew she couldn't lie to him. She glanced over at Nathan.
'Can I talk to him?' Georgia asked.
Nathan glanced up at Georgia. 'If you feel up to it.' He shrugged.
She grabbed the phone off the bedside and answered. 'Hey dad.' Georgia's voice croaked, placing the phone to her ear.
'Where are you Georgia? I have been worried sick about you. Alyssa said you were fine but it's been 5 days and I haven't heard from you once. You have no idea what it's like to not know where your daughter is or what's been happening. What would your mother think?' Georgia's father screamed down the phone at her.
Her strained voice tightened. 'I know dad, I'm sorry. I've been staying at Aly's place, I just got sick.' She replied.
'That is even more reason you should be home, where I can look after you.' Her father sighed, his tone softening.
'Don't worry dad.' Nathan started prodding her wound, Georgia winced at the pressure.
'What was that? I should come get you now.' Her father said, noticing Georgia's pain.
'No dad, I swear, I will be fine.' Georgia pleaded.
'I want to speak to Alyssa's parents.' Her dad stated. Georgia's eyes widened, how was she going to fake this.
'They are out at the moment.' She responded quickly.
'That is unacceptable, you either come home tonight, or I am coming to get you.' Her dad seethed.
'Okay dad, I promise.' Georgia said. 'I love you dad, even if you are being intense.'
'I'm worried about you. I didn't mean to bring your mother into this but since she died, you and Liam are all I have left.' Her dad sounded weak.
Georgia sighed. 'I know, I'm sorry I didn't call sooner. I promise I will next time, I swear. I love you.'
'There better not be a next time. I will see you for dinner tonight. Bye sweetie.'
'Bye dad.' Georgia chucked her phone onto the bed after hanging up. 'I'm sorry about that.'
'Don't apologise, family is the most important thing, in the end they are all we really have in the world. It's pretty much healed, doesn't even look like it will leave a scar.' Nathan said, putting the rolled up bandage to the side.
Georgia's eyebrows raised. 'How? It was a huge knife.'
Nathan shrugged. 'I guess you just have good skin. On the even better side, you can get up, but just don't run off again.' He gave her a cheeky smile.
'Finally.' Georgia sighed. 'Let's hope my legs are still good.'
Nathan laughed. 'It's not like you've been confined to bed for months, your legs should be fine.'
