Sam's limp body hung in his mind, like torture. He had safely put her in bed and locked the door. He needed to keep Jet contained. He searched through his favourite rooms but came up empty.
'Jet.' He called out, transferring it to each edge of the house.
'Here.' A strangled cry came out.
Following the faint voice through the hidden corridors led him to the music room. Nate took a deep breath, collecting his cracked mind. He needed to show strength and be the leader he had always been. He cannot crumble. He pushed the door open and waited, expecting a tiger to pounce and saw Jet on the edge of the stage. Bent down and looking at his feet.
'Coulda picked somewhere less dusty.' Nate teased, scraping a finger across the shelf next to him.
Nate could feel Jets eyes glaring against his cheek.
'Why did you attack Sam?' Nate asked, throwing an angry look at Jet.
'She lied to me.' Jet stated flatly.
'She's done that before through the centuries. Why now?'
Jets eyes didn't leave Nates face. His pale eyes drilling into Nates mind.
'How did you feel when I snapped her pretty little neck? Did it feel like something died inside you? Some hope of a future just ripped out from under you. Did you feel betrayed and angry that I had done something to shatter you? Did you feel like crushing whoever had made you feel that way?' Jet asked as he walked towards the door. 'If not. Fuck off.'
Then he was gone.
Nate sighed against the wall, unsettling layers of dust.
'Nathan' The sound screeched through his mind, which could only mean on thing. 'Unlock this door or I'll break it.'
Nate ran up the stairs and unlocked her door. Her brown hair, frizzier than usual framed her wild eyes. She was on a war path.
'Where is he?' She screamed, her eyes roving around the empty hallway. 'I'm going to kill him.'
'Sam, just calm down.' Nate said, trying to pull her close.
She threw him off. 'No, I won't calm down. He snapped my neck. He tried to kill me.'
'He was angry.'
'Don't defend him.' She spat.
Sam strode down the stairs her body tense.
'Jet.' She screamed.
He appeared in the foyer, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
'What.' He snapped.
She advanced towards him, like two lions fighting to be king.
'You snapped my neck.'
'You deserved it.' Jet scoffed. 'You betrayed me.'
'Why? Cause I was thinking of your safety.' Sam snapped back.
'My safety.' We could have saved her two months ago. Instead, she is still trapped. All because of your stupidity.'
Something inside Sam snapped. She leaped at him, her fingers like talons as she clawed at his chest. Jet reacted and pushed his fist into her cheek. Sam reeled and kicked out at him, clipping his jaw. Jet grabbed her outstretched leg and twisted it, the bone snapped under his fingers. The sound ricocheted around the wooden space.
'Enough.' Nate shouted, jumping down to them.
They continued to fight, a cloud of limbs pushing out at each other until Sam locked Jet's arm behind his back, her leg twisted the wrong way. Jet reached around, grabbing a fistful of Sam's hair. She pulled and a pop sounded out. Jet screamed in pain and Chad ran into the room, he immediately pulled Sam off and held her back. Jet turned to give a punch to Sam but Nate caught him. Twisting the arm behind his back and making him walk away.
'I said enough.' Nate growled, his voice exuding his age and power, trapped within a nineteen year old.
Everyone stilled, having heard the command in his voice.
'We live in a civilised society, so we are going to act like civilised people and discuss it. No questions.' He demanded.
Chad and Nate let the two of them go and they calmly walked towards the lounge. Sam wiped the blood from her nose as she limped, her eyes trained on Jet's movements.
Nate pointed to the dull silver couches. 'Sit.' He commanded to Jet.
With his arm clutched in front of him, he fell into the soft couch cushions. Chad sat next to him.
'Let me help, mate.' He said, opening his hands out to Jet.
Jet glared but let his arm drop towards Chad.
'This is gonna hurt.' Chad pushed Jet's shoulder into place. Jet's face contorted as a scream broke through the tension.
'Baby.' Sam scoffed, hobbling towards the couch.
'Bitch.' Jet seethed.
'I said civil.' Nate snapped, striding over to Sam.
He examined her leg, the bone hadn't broken through the skin but it was purple and swollen. She hissed as his hands grazed across the wound.
'I'm gonna fix it.' Nate said calmly.
He pressed searching for the snapped bone, hecould feel the shards beneath his fingers and pushed it together. Sam punchedthe couch, determined to not scream.
