Chad parked a few houses down from her house. Georgia leaned through the centre as she saw Liam run out of the house, his backpack shaking with the movement behind him came her dad, his face drawn, his movements slower than normal. She could feel her insides crush inside her as Aly turned towards her pressing her head against hers.

'I know it's hard.' She whispered.

Georgia tried to stifle the tears silently rolling down her cheeks. She quickly brushed them away. 'I feel like I've failed him.'

Chad's stoic face looked across at the two girls, his gut twisting at his own goodbye to his family. 'It's for the best.' He nodded, convincing her as much as himself.

They watched her dad's beat up Ford drive away before gently opening the doors to their own cars.

'I'm going with you.' Aly stated, walking in line with Georgia.

'I'll wait here then. Take all the time you need.' Chad said forlornly.

Georgia pulled her key out of her pocket and walked up the drive, her feet crunching on the pebbles her mum had laid when she was little. Laughing as Georgia listened out for each crunch.

'What are we getting?' Aly was making sure that she stayed with Georgia.

'I need my school books and some clothes.'

Aly scoffed behind her. 'There are so many clothes back at the house. You don't need more.'

Georgia opened the door and headed straight for her room. 'I need things that feel familiar.'

Aly rolled her eyes. 'Fine, whatever. Where are your books?'

'On the desk.' Georgia said, pointing to the flimsy plywood desk in the corner.

Aly immediately ran over and picked up the books, clutching them close to her chest. Georgia pulled open her cupboard and shoved a few things into her backpack, her favourite leather jacket and jeans. She grabbed the silver chain off her bedside table. Letting the red stone catch in the light, shining like a ruby tear. She carefully clasped the necklace around her neck and grabbed her bag.

'All done, let's go Aly.' She said gently shutting the door.

Georgia's feet creaked on the floor, it was too silent in the hallway. She carefully wandered down the hall.

'Aly.' She called, silence echoed back at her.

She peeked around the corner and saw Aly's dirty blonde hair fanned out around her, the books scattered beneath her feet. Georgia ran straight over, dropping her bag below her.

'Aly.' Georgia shook Aly. 'Aly, wake up.' Aly's head rolled back and forth but her eyes never stirred.

Georgia ran for the door, heading for help.

'I wouldn't do that if I were you.'

Georgia froze and slowly turned around. His short blonde hair cut across his face, his grey eyes boring into her, she could feel his eyes traveling over her body, marking out her movements.

She forced her voice to sound strong. 'Aly.'

'Not dead, unfortunately. But see I need you to come quietly.' He drawled, taking a step towards her.

'No. Never.' She backed up a few steps.

Nick smirked to himself. 'Fine then.' He picked Aly up by her hair, her feet barely touching the floor. 'I have no need for her.' He reached across to snap her neck.
